New Product Update
Laser Direct Imaging Solder Mask
PSR-4000 LDI (US) (UL name: PSR-4000 JA / CA-40 JA) is Taiyo America's 2nd generation of product for LDI exposing equipment. This product was specifically designed for LDI equipment, it is slightly too tacky for polymerizing on traditional exposure equipment. It is available in Green, Blue and Red.
PSR-4000 LDI (EU) (UL name: PSR-4000 JH / CA-40 JH) is our 3rd generation LDI solder mask. We designed this product to work on both LDI and traditional exposure equipment as the surface is tack free. Currently this product is available in green and we are working on other colors.
Via Fill
We are currently working on a new epoxy via fill, THP-100 DX1 (HTG), with a higher Tg and lower CTE. THP-100 DX1 (HTG) will be available in a cartridge. The product has some advantages over the standard THP-100 DX1 in that it will not sag out of large holes and has less shrinkage after final cure. We have tested the material on both the ITC and Mass equipment with positive results. We will be applying for UL and plan to have this product to the market by the holidays.
Inkjet Legend
IJR-4000 MW300 is Taiyo America's first introduction of inkjet product to the America's and Europe. IJR-4000 MW300 was designed by Taiyo Korea and is the only inkjet legend ink that can be applied to semi-cured and cured solder mask. This product works with equipment made by Orbotech, Microcraft and First EIE.
Dielectric Gap Filler
Taiyo America has developed a thermal cure dielectric gap filler, THP-100 DX1 (GF), to help fill between the high copper inner layer circuitry so that you will accomplish superior planar outer layers after lamination. The Tg is approximately 160°C with a CTE of 55ppm / 120 ppm. Currently, this product is being tested in the field and we hope to market it by the upcoming holidays, as well.

Dan's Six Pack
with Jesse Session
By Dan Beaulieu
Every month we like to visit with one of the key team members at Taiyo and see what they are up to. I'll ask them six key questions (hence the name Dan's Six Pack) designed to give us insight into what they are currently developing. This month I talked to chemist Jesse Session about some of the new projects.
1. Dan: What new products have you been working on recently?
Jesse: We are developing new products for Laser Direct Imaging (LDI), new hole plugging products with enhanced properties, new dielectric products for gap filling, and flexible UV curable inks for the flexible printed circuit board and solar markets.
2. Dan: How did you decide that these were the new products you needed to work on?
Jesse: We asked our customers what they needed in terms of new products and improvements to existing products. We also looked at changes in the overall market in terms of product mix and product design. Once we reviewed the information that was collected, we went forward with the product development phase. As a member of the Taiyo Holdings Group, Taiyo America has access to global resources for product development and innovation. Taking a look at the industry as a whole, we can focus on areas where new products are needed most.
3. Dan: So tell me, what new products stand out to you as winners?
Jesse: The dielectric gap filler and the hole plugging products, which stand out to me, are in the final phase of evaluation. This last phase includes customer evaluation and feedback. Once this final phase is complete, we will begin launching the new products to the market.
4. Dan: What have you heard from your customers? What has been their reaction?
Jesse: So far, the response has been very positive. We have even received advance orders for some of the products.
5. Dan: What do you see coming up in the future?
Jesse: We are already seeing requests for LED products (white and black), Laser Direct Imageable products, and dielectric products. We are also seeing increased interest in inkjettable products.
6. Dan: What are your thoughts on the market going forward?
Jesse: I believe that the market will continue to redefine itself as technology advances. A few years ago, the concept of a smart phone or a tablet computer seemed like science fiction, and now they are common place. The market will look at their suppliers to develop innovative products that will provide a total solution to its manufacturing needs.
