Superhero Duo Ally Keppel & Greg Safranski
Greg had always been in good health, so last fall when it was time for a check-up with his primary care physician, he decided to cancel the appointment. It had been several years since his last appointment, and his wife Ally, a MaineHealth employee said, "No way! If you cancel, I am taking you off my health insurance."

| Cooking Close to Home Cookbook |
Cooking Close to Home; A Year of Seasonal Recipes, created by Diane Imrie, R.D. and Richard Jarmusz, a chef for 25 years, is a collection of more than 150 original recipes as well as several recipes passed down from past generations.
The recipes are organized by course and by season, and guide the reader through the harvest seasons to help those who enjoy cooking learn more about preparing and buying local foods. For anyone who is a member of a community supported agriculture (CSA), program this book will serve as a seasonal guide to using the foods typically received in a share.
The book includes appetizing food photographs and photos of farms, orchards and farmers' markets throughout the northeast. The recipes use ingredients that are available in Vermont and throughout the northeast or other cold climate areas, as well as preserved ingredients. Throughout the book there are useful "Harvest Hints" that explain ingredients, how and where to purchase them and how best to store the harvest for the winter.

Make healthy eating a family affair! In honor of National Cholesterol Education Month, Raising Readers Recommends Feast for 10 by Cathryn Falwell. Feast for 10, part of Raising Readers: Stories for Maine Children collection, is a counting book that follows a family as they prepare a meal together. Note that this family balances its purchase of "Three chickens to fry" with "Five kinds of beans" and "Six bunches of greens." A festive and healthy approach!
