Greetings from the MaineHealth WOW! Team!

Happy Holidays! We at the MaineHealthAcorn Squash WOW! Program hope you are enjoying this 'most wonderful time of the year.' Our feature foods this month are festive, Vitamin C-rich cranberries and oranges. This December's WOW! recipe combines both in a Zesty Cran-Orange Applesauce

As we mentioned in the December WOW! Newsletter, this month the WOW! Spotlight is on Healthy Children and Families.

The MaineHealth Learning Resource Centers also offer a variety of classes that focus on family health.  For more information, call 1.866.609.5183.

Speaking of families:
  • Are you expecting a baby? Employees with health benefits are eligible for the Future Moms program. Future Moms offers reliable health information and access to nurses via telephone-24 hours a day. Call 1-866-347-8360 to enroll.
  • Did you know that beginning in January 2009, many screenings including mammograms, pap smears and colon cancer screenings will be covered at 100% for health plan members?
  • AND, several preventive screenings have been added as criteria for WOW! Rewards.

Stay tuned for more information on prevention and WOW! Rewards and visit www.mainehealth.org/wow after January 1st.

Finally, have you received your WOW! Calendar in the mail? This great resource will keep you well every day of the year, through timely health information, resources and inspiring monthly WOW! Champions.

Happy Holidays!  See you in 2009...
