Announcements:

In the words of Sam Cooke,

A change is gonna come!

Susan's last day at GCHAR is Wednesday and she will not be replaced.

Your leadership team is working on a partnership that will increase service and provide additional value for your membership dollars. Watch for details coming soon.

In the meantime, GCHAR's temporary hours will be Mon-Thur 9:00-3:30.

You are advised to call the office before dropping in on the off chance Sue is attending a meeting or enjoying a lunch break.

Code of Ethics Requirement:

Since January 1, 2001, all REALTORS® and applicants for REALTOR® membership have been required by the National Association of REALTORS® to complete 2 1/2 hours of ethics training every four years. The current NAR mandated Code of Ethics (COE) quadrennial cycle is set to expire on December 31, 2012.

There are 2 options to complete the requirement:

The course is FREE, takes approximately 2.5 hours and can be taken in your jammies. As soon as you pass the test, your completion is automatically uploaded to your NAR record that you have met the 2012 requirement. Note that this free online course does NOT count toward your Continuing Education with the NC Real Estate Commission.

  • Take the course with live instructor from "approved" provider.

GCHAR will be offering FOUR Ethics elective classes in the second half of 2012. If you opt to take this class with us, then you will complete your Code of Ethics requirement and have an Elective class for NCREC.

What if a REALTOR® doesn't meet the training requirement on time?

Failure to meet the requirement is a violation of a membership requirement and results in suspension of membership until the requirement is met. The consequences of suspension of a REALTOR® for failing to meet the training requirement will be treated the same as suspension for violating any other membership duty as defined in The Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual, in relevant part, "...suspension of membership rights and privileges and denial of Board services...on terms and conditions expressly stated...including, but not limited to, use of the terms REALTOR® and REALTOR-Associate®..."

Have YOU completed your COE requirement?

We have compiled a list of our REALTOR members who HAVE NOT completed their Code of Ethics Training for this quadrennial cycle. If your name is on the following list then you will need to complete either the online training or a live course before 12-31-12. Please CLICK HERE to view the list.

Home Prices Predicted to Rise

Have home prices finally hit bottom? Many analysts think so. According to the latest forecast by Fiserv, the market watcher sees a big boost to home prices on the horizon, projecting that home prices will rise nearly 4 percent per year for the next five years.

The real estate markets expected to see the biggest increases in home prices will likely be those hardest hit the last few years by foreclosures, such as in Phoenix and Las Vegas, and areas where prices have fallen the most, according to Fiserv's forecast.
