Member Meeting:
Playing in Traffic with Kumar
Late for a meeting? Stuck in traffic? Are you frustrated by lack of parking spaces? How do you like the 'Super Intersection' on 15-501?
Kumar Neppalli; Program Manager for Traffic Engineering in Chapel Hill is coming to talk to us about all of the issues we have with the ever-increasing traffic and its associated problems in Chapel Hill. He will address questions we have about traffic calming devices and pedestrian crosswalks. He will look at the three worst intersections/traffic areas in Chapel Hill and talk about possible solutions. Among some of the timely topics that relate to us will be parking ticket issues, and the 25 year traffic master plan for the area. Come and enjoy an interesting Q &A from the traffic expert: (no citations will be issued!)

RPAC Education:
Let's talk about RPAC! This is the tenth in a 10 week series to educate our members as to what RPAC is and what it does. Brought to you by our RPAC chair Virginia Ferguson
Q. Other than protecting Private Property Rights, what is RPAC's other main goal? A. REALTORS Business Expenses B. Housing Affordability in our community C. The Local Chamber
A. B. Housing Affordability in our Community. State and local elected officials are constantly making decisions that affect housing and the real estate industry. RPAC dollars are vitally important because they support candidates here in North Carolina that have REALTOR friendly positions on the following issues:
- Opposition to transfer taxes, impact fees and the state wide deed stamp tax.
- Protecting private property rights.
- Promoting housing affordability.
- Protecting homebuyers from predatory lending and mortgage fraud.
- Fostering a healthy, vibrant real estate market and opposing over-zealous regulations.
RPAC suggest a fee structure of $10.00 per REALTOR minimum. We have over 100 members from the Chapel Hill Board that has made a contribution. It is important to be involved in your local community. It's equally important that we, as REALTORS, are involved at the state and federal levels of government as well.
By participating in RPAC, your voice is heard collectively with hundreds of thousands of your colleagues across the country... RPAC provides you a seat at the table. Get involved today and be pro active in protecting your workplace from bad regulations and over-zealous legislators.
We accept Visa and MasterCard... Call the Chapel Hill Board office today at 929-4032 to contribute. |
Open House Weekend:
Join state and local REALTORŪ associations across the country in hosting the nation's largest open house campaign Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, 2012
For one weekend in April REALTORSŪ will hold open houses in neighborhoods from coast to coast, bringing value to both buyers and sellers. The event also provides a tremendous opportunity to promote the benefits of home ownership and continue an open dialogue with consumers about the housing issues that matter most to them.
