Open House Weekend

The 2011 REALTOR® Nationwide Open House will be held on the weekend of, June 4-5, 2011. This event, which began on a local level a few years ago, is a weekend when REALTORS® across the country-and across the globe-are invited to hold open houses in their area. It is designed to drive buyers' attention and interest to homes for sale and offers opportunities to educate the public about the benefits of home ownership.

Going Global: 59 Countries, 1 Weekend

Weekly Safety Tip:Cash

Use common sense.

  • Stay out of questionable neighborhoods after dark.
  • Keep your gas tank filled.
  • Keep jewelry to a minimum.
  • Don't flash wads of cash around.
  • If you use an MP3 player, make sure the volume is set so you can hear someone coming up behind you.
  • Let someone know where you're going and when you are expected back.
  • Keep your risk taking to investment, don't risk your safety.

Bocce Ball Party

Bocce Ball

Each year, the Chamber throws a Bocce pre-tournament party at The Top of the Hill Back Bar, and this year, our party is just days away: 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 17 at Back Bar.

We'd love for you to join us as guests of the Chamber, free of charge.

Top of the Hill will be providing great hors d'oeuvres and adult beverages, Kevin Seifert of Photoendeavors will be running a photo booth (you can pose with the coveted Bocce trophy AND take home your prints for free!), and we'll have a Wii Bocce competition running.

Additionally, you'll be able to participate in our Bocce Calcutta, competitive bidding on the duos favored to win the 2011 tournament. The winner of our Calcutta will take home lunch for four at Il Palio Ristorante and two car detailing from Showroom Shine, and half of the money raised in the Calcutta will be donated to a charity of the winner's choice.

Finally, our party will wrap at 8 p.m., but I'd encourage you to stay at Back Bar for another drink and free comedy; Tuesdays at 9 p.m., DSI Comedy hosts a free standup show at Back Bar. La Notte Prima plus good laughs provided by DSI? I can't think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening!

It would be super helpful to me if you could let me know whether or not you plan to come Tuesday evening and if you plan to bring guests. Lmorrison@carolinachamber.org

I am looking forward to seeing you Tuesday!

Laura Ann Morrison
