Trisha was pleased to attend the Women in Insurance and Financial Services annual conference near Chicago last week. With about 500 women in attendance, the group heard from excellent speakers like Terry Savage, Marcia Petrie Sue and Rick Mattoon of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank.

Terry Savage, in particular, had a wealth of information on, well, wealth! She also shared some interesting websites in addition to her own, (www.terrysavage.com): www.truthin2008.org (tracking the national debt) and www.livingto100.org to help determine how long of a nest egg you will need.

The Gallagher Group is looking forward to getting active in WIFS's New England Chapter and attending the annual conference next year in San Antonio.

Blessings for the Fall Season!
FDR's famous words, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself," have been called upon a great deal lately and William Shakespeare's similar sentiment 450+ years earlier, "There is no good or bad but thinking makes it so," is also a timeless reminder that we can shape our futures and fortunes with our attitudes. Let our clients, our colleagues and our families find this eternal optimism in us in the months and years ahead!

To help you take stock in the lighter side, take Gg's trick or treat challenge! The trick is to visit our website (www.thegallaghergroup.net) then email me with the superhero character that my son, Sebastien, is this year, and you will soon have a smile on your face and a treat in your mailbox!

Best wishes to you and yours for the rest of '08!

Women and Financial Fall Out
Studies this year, again, found that women around the globe worry more about economic downturns than men. They have good reason to when you consider that women face a 50% higher risk of losing their job then men and they are typically the first to go. (Maybe that's why they're known as pink slips?) Women also tend to be on the front lines when it comes to caring for family members, paying bills and thinking about quality of life pursuits.

How can you help women with these legitimate fears especially in these uncertain days? Encourage them to get even more financially savvy. Barbara Stanny, heiress to one of the founders of H & R Block, advises women to make all financial decisions from a place of knowledge.
To do that, she offers 3 easy tips:
1) read something about money every day,
2) talk about money every week with other women,
3) Save every month and position yourself for smart investing.

To help you corner the market...

Market turmoil is a good opportunity to work with new and existing clients!  A recent survey shows that 66% of the advisors surveyed discussed the current market conditions with at least 3/4 of their clients, while 38% said they've talked about it with all of their clients and 9% had contacted only one quarter. The news has been dark but you can be a bright light just by being among the 2/3rds of financial advisors who have reached out to most, if not all, of their clients!

Trisha recently attended a breakfast courtesy of friend and client Kathy Klinger. The event, attended by 1700 women professionals from around Boston and hosted by Lily Tomlin, raised $700,000 to benefit over 100,000 Homeless Children in MA! Gg was pleased to attend and make a generous donation to this worthwhile cause!  For more, visit:

Once again, The Gallagher Group is planting trees in tribute to Gg's clients, to offset our carbon footprint from Trisha's travel. Gg also continues to donate hundreds of ink cartridges each year to local schools for recycling.
