Marketing Quick Tip - 5.5.08
An increasing number of states are proposing the creation of state Do Not Mail Registries, similar to the National Do Not Call Registry, or are considering other limitations on advertising mail. In fact, already in 2008, 11 state legislatures have Do Not Mail bills under consideration. The nature of the legislation speaks to proposals that ensure that private-entity registrants do not receive unwanted, direct mail marketing solicitation. As with the DNC registry, it does not appear that this legislation will apply to businesses, at least in the early stages.
