Meeting the Hoyts is a great reminder that anything is possible!
 Dick and Rick Hoyt are a father-and-son team from Massachusetts who, together, compete nearly round the clock in marathon and Iron Man competitions. For more than 25 years, Dick, who is 65, has pushed and pulled his son Rich, who has cerebral palsy, across the country and over hundreds of finish lines with their all-important message of perseverance and inclusion for the disabled. In January, Trisha attended a client's fundraiser that featured this amazing duo. Many of you may know that Dick and Rick recently spoke at this year's LAMP meeting and just finished their 27th Boston Marathon! Is it Time to Rate the Raters?
There's been a lot of finger pointing lately due to the crises in the financial markets. An interesting article in Time last month noted that Moody's made $702 million in after-tax profit last year, up from $289 million just five years before, a stunning profit margin of 50% of revenue! Some say the ratings agencies not only failed to see a financial calamity coming; they helped cause it. Why did collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) based partly on risky subprime mortgages lead to so much trouble? Because Moody's and S&P and others awarded them dubiously generous letter grades, suggests the article.
