Greetings!
What an amazing January! To commemorate an amazing month, I'd like to offer you three gifts:
First, January 11th was National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Please accept this poem, And to the Little Ones as a way to connect with those who are so often so voiceless.
Second, along with about two million others, NY Faith & Justice leaders hopped on planes, trains, and automobiles to witness history on January 20th. It was an emotional trip, full of stories, laughter, and tears of joy. Click here to read my blog, An Inauguration Pilgrimage: Dreams from my Mother. Enjoy. We give a special shout-out to our friends at Sojourners who put us up for the night! Thanks so much for your generous hospitality, Aaron and Amy!
Third, One of our partners, Church of the Holy Trinity-Peace and Justice Committee, launched Prayers for the First 100 Days. An initiative to soak the Obama administration's transition in prayer. Please join me on your knees for our President and our world.
As I look toward February, it strikes me that many of the things we've been praying for and working toward for the past two years are coming to fruition right now.
If you can join us for any of these gatherings, please do. If you can pray for us during any of these initiatives, please do. If you can contribute to help sustain the work ... click here to give today.
It's On!

Circles x 5 weeks
= An
Action Plan for Change
THIS WEDNESDAY February 4,
2008
Starting at 6:30pm@ Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC) located at 14. W. 170th Street in
the Bronx. map it
Two years ago, Walker Memorial Baptist Church hosted a Public Forum Against Violence in response to the shootings of Sean Bell and Timur Person. At the conclusion of the forum, ten citizens walked forward and committed to becoming a part of the solution. These ten souls met for one year and discerned a deep need for the type of dialogue that would build bridges of common understanding and shared action between the NYPD and citizens of their communities. Now... it's on.
If you are a resident of the South Bronx, in the 44th, 42nd, or 46th precinct, you are invited to join clergy, community leaders, concerned
citizens and NYPD police officers for five weeks of facilitated small group dialogue.
If you would like to check out these dialogues to see if one might work in your precinct, you are welcome to join us on February 4th.
Directions Take the train to 170th Street. LPAC is located on the SW corner of Jerome and
170th.
Conversations for
Change is sponsored by Walker Memorial Baptist Church, Latino
Pastoral Action Center, NY Faith & Justice, The Presbytery of New York -
PCUSA, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, The Bronx Ecumenical Coalition, and The
