Music for Justice!
Every minute of every day, a child under the age of 15 dies
of AIDS-related illnesses, and there are approximately 15 million AIDS orphans
around the globe.
On Monday, January 12, 2009, Carnegie Hall will be the site of an historic
event: mahler for the
children of AIDS, a global humanitarian concert of Mahler's Third
Symphony to raise funds and promote public awareness for global pediatric AIDS
and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
"MAHLER FOR THE CHILDREN OF AIDS echoes Mahler's own words scribbled into the
manuscript of this Symphony, -- 'Father, Let no creature be Lost!' Your
community of artists and humanitarians alike makes that call resound across the
continents. You are giving voice to the voiceless, hidden suffering of HIV/AIDS
that must be heard by the world. I will be there with you in spirit. " --
Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu

Don't Walk By
What is Rescue Alliance
NYC?
An historic partnership of faith-based
compassion ministries and concerned churches focused on offering every man or
woman living on the streets of New
York an alternative to their plight in the name of the
Lord.
What
will Rescue Alliance NYC
Do?
"Don't Walk By." In January of 2009 an army of hundreds of
volunteers will fan out across Manhattan to offer every single street person
food, blankets, but most importantly a complete "holistic residential recovery
program that offers them new life in Christ" and educational, vocational and
housing solutions.
You can make New York City a nicer and safer home for
everyone.
Don't Walk By initiatives happen each Saturday in January 2009. The Harlem Zone will be the last outreach on January 31st @ St
Andrew's Episcopal Church on 12th and 5th Ave. Orientation for all
the outreaches begins at 2:00PM and the event concludes at about 9:00 PM.
Please consider making a donation or signing up to volunteer. If you
need more information, please contact us.

FAMILIES OF IMMIGRANTS If you are a United States Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident who fears that a family member, friend or loved one may be at risk of deportation, we invite you to attend a community meeting to share your story.
Achieving comprehensive immigration reform will not be easy. We can help stop the deportation-only policies that separate our families by putting a human face on the issue and addressing the harm that our troubled immigration system is causing many people.
The Family Unity Campaign under the leadership of Congressman Luis Guitterez with the Ya Basta Coalition has formally requested a meeting with President-elect Obama to ask that separation of families be put on the national agenda.
Please join Please join with New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn And Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito for a Community Meeting for FAMILIES OF IMMIGRANTS
