Greetings!
Thank you for your partnership and support in 2008! NY Faith & Justice started with four people in June 2006. Today hundreds of faith-filled New Yorkers are hooking into a growing movement to follow Christ, unite the church, and end poverty through spiritual formation, education, and direct advocacy.
In 2008, your support made Faith Leaders for Environmental Justice possible. Faith Leaders for EJ is a collaborative effort of faith leaders, community organizers, government representatives, and justice advocates to make deep impact for environmental justice in impoverished neighborhoods. Through the coordinated collective action of two working groups, Faith Leaders for Environmental Justice is addressing issues of food justice, climate justice and energy consumption. Help make sure New York City adopts more just food, climate, and energy policies - contribute today to NY Faith & Justice. Your partnership continues to make change possible in black and brown communities where "neighbor" has left the neighborhood. Poverty breeds violence and violence feeds broken trust between the police and the community. NYFJ is working with Walker Memorial Baptist Church, the Latino Pastoral Action Center, the Presbytery of New York - PCUSA, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, the NYPD and several other faith partners to launch Conversations for Change in the South Bronx throughout the month of February 2009! Help make sure the NYPD improves its relationship with communities of color - contribute to NY Faith & Justice.Plus, NY Faith & Justice monthly large group gatherings on The Bridge offer chances to learn more about the issues while connecting them to our faith. Smaller monthly House Fellowship Gatherings in Manhattan, the Brooklyn, and the Bronx (starting in January '09) offer intimate settings to connect, reflect, and pray with our neighbors about the issues facing our neighborhoods. Help unite the church to end poverty in New York City - contribute right now to NYFJ.None of this would be possible without your faithful partnership and prayers! God has done great things since 2006! The church is uniting to end poverty in the city. Yet, we still have a long way to go. Skim through the factoids listed below. See the challenges we face. These are not insurmountable. Through collaboration we are building bridges of understanding and common purpose. By leveraging our collective voice we will make change reality. But we need your support to continue to meet the challenges.
