One Day with God Next Saturday, February 2, 2008 @ 10am - 4pm Metropolitan Museum of Art Register by Wednesday, January 30 by emailing Anna Lee at Alee@nyfaithjustice.org Cost: $15(pay online or on site)Once every quarter, come practice spiritual disciplines of silence, solitude, relfection, listening and learning how to enter into Sabbath rest, in the midst of a frenetic city life. This is especially important for activists, known more for our "doing" than our reflection on who we are and who we are becoming. These retreats are an act of faith: to believe that God desires to meet with us and give us good gifts, and that the worlds that we juggle will not fall apart if we enter nto God's rest for One Day. This February's retreat will incorporate the spiritual discipline of "spiritual friendship." We suggest that each participant come with a friend or colleague, if possible--someone with whom you can be vulnerable and share the day's jouney in a "road-to-Emmaus" type experience. Our day will be grounded in the Luke 24:13-35 story of two friends walking with Jesus. The Bridge

Evangelicals are at an important
turning point-polls indicate an increasing number of evangelicals are concerned
about global warming, poverty, and torture. This conference will direct those
concerns toward a new moral commitment to justice, peace, and care for
creation. It will begin a decade-long educational initiative, bringing
evangelicals and mainline Christians together to generate stronger alliances
for social change.
The conference will feature leading experts on evangelical history, theology, and biblical values. Their plenary presentations will ground the educational tracks, which will focus on the current state of the world and social issues. An invited panel of educators will offer tracks on social issues, such as climate change, poverty, racism, sexism, torture, sexuality and war. We hope you will join us for this amazing gathering of thinkers and practitioners.
