We, your Simply Mumtaz team, hope that you all enjoyed the holiday weekend and have settled back into the swing of things for this 4 day work week! We are very excited to share with you what we've been up to this Spring... It's been a fun and busy Spring season of events, events, and more events. And, of course, there is always time for professional development. SIMPLY MUMTAZ EVENTS
AT THE LIVING DESERT, PALM SPRINGS
Simply Mumtaz is always thrilled to work with one of our clients for their annual Conference and this year their "Monday Night Reception" was held at The Living Desert. This year we were all in for a bit of a shock because it only rains in Palm Springs 3-4 days a year - and guess when we were there doing an outside event! Yup, those 3 - 4 days! 
Simply Mumtaz with the help of J & M Entertainment, Classic Party Rentals, Westwood Catering and the Living Desert Zoo all came together to pull it together in miracle fashion... With about 30 minutes until the guests began to arrive all of the teams pitched in and started to dry off chairs, tables, lit candles, uncover all the lighting and plug in all the  electrical equipment and begin their event.
The event took place in the Village Watutu. Guest arrived to the sound of African drums beating and live dancers performing. Guests were also treated to live animal visits throughout the evening. Since everyone is a kid at heart - we treated guests to a fun candy station. And, like kids in a candy store there was a line all night! It  was great.
The special treat of the evening was we were able to get our "board members" to enjoy a special perk...
We set up a camel painting where the camels would actually paint, well they would eat food off a canvas where we strategically placed non-toxic, safe paints that would smear the paint. It was especially funny  because post paint job the camels would have painted lips! The client donated the painting back to The Living Desert which allowed for a local school to come and do the same activity for free! What a way to give back...
The event was a huge success despite the hovering rain clouds looming in the distance. Once the drinks began to flow and food served all of the guests were having a great time exploring this unique venue. What a way to put smiles on the guests' faces! It was Mumtaz!! |

TREASURES OF LOS ANGELES AT THE WESTIN  BONAVENTURE HOTEL & SUITES
We love planning this event - It's our 9th year and looking forward to 2012 and our 10th! It is always a blast working with our gal Yvonne Chang, CMP, Director of Catering and Convention Services at the Westin Bonaventure.
We opened the event with L.A. City Council President Eric Garcetti, L.A. City  Controller Wendy Greuel, and L.A. City Council President Pro Tempore performed their rendition and fully tailored "Downtown" with wonderful anecdotes of the event's honorees. This year's event celebrated Downtown L.A.'s revitalization - Downtown Alive!
It was truly a team effort and a special thanks go out to all of our vendor partners and team members for making it happen! |
TRIBUTE DINNER AT THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
On March 15, 2011, Simply Mumtaz planned a Tribute Dinner honoring Dr. David T. Feinberg at the Natural History Museum. The night began with a reception and Age of Mammals exhibit tour. The guests then roamed throughout the Rotunda until the Dinner and Program began. Dr. Feinberg, CEO and Associate Vice Chancellor of the UCLA Hospital System, was presented w ith the Ludlam-Gamble Award for his commitment to leadership and vision in health field.
If you haven't already - you should really visit and/or plan one of your upcoming events at the Museum. Given the super fast turn from actual Museum close to event start - it's a gorgeous place and the team on-site was great. We had a 2 hour load in!

NOT YOUR EVERYDAY AWARD SHOW
On April 21st Simply Mumtaz had the pleasure of planning the 36th Annual Crystal Eagle Awards Gala . The dinner and silent auction were held at the  Downtown Los Angeles Marriott hotel. This year's honorees were the Honorable John A. Pérez, Speaker of the Assembly, the Honorable Zev Yaroslavsky Los Angeles County Supervisor, Fran Inman, Senior Vice President of Majestic Realty, and Daniel Guerrero, the Director of Athletics at UCLA.
To stay away from your traditional and expected awards show - we changed up the program. Instead of the traditional here's the honoree and video, we decided we would have them all engage each other in a lively panel discussion. The topic at hand - Southern California Public Leadership - also a goal of the organization - developing tomorrow's leaders. By the time we presented the actual awards, everyone felt they knew our honorees and truly could acknowledge the achievements of each outstanding individual.  |
