The Buzz: 16 and Pregnant Premieres on MTV16 and Pregnant
Last night MTV aired its newest documentary series "16 and Pregnant." Each episode follows a 5-7 month period in the life of a teenager as she navigates the bumpy terrain of adolescence, growing pains, rebellion, and coming of age; all while dealing with being pregnant. This gripping series is not like any other teen pregnancy show you've seen on TV---it is riveting to watch and impossible to forget; a must-watch for anyone who cares about teenagers or is interested in teen pregnancy.

National Academies Releases New Report on
Title X

The National Academies Institute of Medicine has released an important review of Title X, the nation's only federal program exclusively devoted to providing family planning services.  The report is now available from The National Academies Press.  The report concludes that Title X "provides essential services that affect the lives of millions of individuals, families, and communities" and suggests ways that the program might be improved.  In addition, the report notes that "in 2006, clinics supported by Title X provided family planning services to almost 5 million clients.  Population projections suggest that the number of individuals in need of these services is likely to grow."
