Dear ,

The Value of Networking

One of the signal benefits of membership in AMSOV is the wide variety of networking and information sharing opportunities that AMSOV provides.

AMSOV resources for networking and sharing of best practices include the AMSOV website, the newsletters and Directory mailed to members in good standing, as well as our always spectacular Biennial Conference.

Our up-coming print newsletter will focus on volunteer fundraising activities. While fundraising has always been a staple of our volunteer efforts, in these challenging economic times our efforts take on new meaning and importance for our orchestras.

Please note the request from our eNews/Newsletter Chair, Linda Stevens, and take an active part in the AMSOV networking family.

Wishing you success in 2010 and on into 2011,
Marjorie Saulson, AMSOV President
Fundraising Projects to be featured in next newsletter

Our next print newsletter will be dedicated to sharing fundraising ideas. We invite you to share your fundraising programs by sending a short article to your AMSOV Board Liaison or Linda Stevens, AMSOV newsletter editor at lssteven@hotmail.com. Please submit your articles by November 30.

AMSOV Newsletters
The AMSOV Newsletter is printed two times each year and mailed to all members in good standing. AMSOV eNews is sent to anyone who signs up for the service. Please forward the eNews to anyone associated with your volunteer group or orchestra staff who might be interested in our activities and networking opportunities.

AMSOV Board Meets in Seattle
One of the highlights of being on the AMSOV Board is attending board meetings in cities where AMSOV Board members reside. This gives the board an opportunity to meet local volunteers, attend a symphony performance and visit local cultural venues which are part of the community.
Chihuly Boathouse

Chihuly Boathouse Studio

 Seattle WA

The Board met in Seattle Oct. 14-17 and was hosted by AMSOV Board member Linda Stevens and the Seattle AMSOV Alumni and Volunteers. The exchange of information with volunteers who hosted the Board for lunch and dinners provided rich networking opportunities.

One of the highlights was a visit to the Chihuly Boathouse Studio, where Dale Chihuly's glass works are created. Dale is Artist in Association with the Seattle Symphony and often collaborates with the Symphony to provide visual arts to symphony performances. His wife, Leslie Chihuly, chairs the Board of Directors and is actively involved in many volunteer projects.

Prior positions include President, Secretary, Treasurer and Gift Shop Coordinator. She also served as Auxiliary Council President, which includes representative officers from all six of Kansas City's auxiliaries.
