Exploring the New Philanthropic Model of Social Investment
The Jewish Funders Network (JFN) is an international organization dedicated to advancing the quality and growth of Jewish philanthropy. Within the framework of the 2012 JFNInternational Conference in Tel Aviv, which took place during the week of March 19th, IVN and the Dualis Social Venture Fund were proud to be amongst the small number of organizations chosen to arrange and lead site visits and study trips for JFN members. The trip provided an amazing opportunity to showcase a number of the IVN and Dualis supported social businesses in the south. The action-packed day was amazing. The participants were not just enthusiastic regarding what they had seen and heard, but also voiced an understanding and commitment to this emerging world of social businesses and new model of social investment. A Cinderella Story - From Tale to Reality
IVN was proud and thrilled to be invited to present one of its social businesses at the Social Venture Lab session of the JFN International Conference, in partnership with the ROI Community, which took place at the Tel Aviv Hilton on March 20th. The purpose of the session, attended by over 60 JFN members, was to introduce a bit of social innovation to a crowd of mostly traditional funders, and illustrate a situation in which funders often find themselves when faced with a new model.
The three presenters, amongst them IVN's "Cinderella" - a unique social business which empowers women through employment and education in the Negev and whose current co-investors are IVN, the Tsadik Foundation and the Ness Fund - shared their unique insights, knowledge and experience, managing to evoke interest and captivate not just the audience, but the prestigious panel of judges. The afternoon was both stimulating and thought provoking.
