Choosing Love | |
May 28, 2011 7:30 - 9:00pm @ Milwaukee LGBT Community Center
Description: Join us for a discussion about choosing love in your life. An interactive game will kick of the meeting, serving as a jumping off point for further discussion about how and where to meet people; considerations about if/how/when to disclose trans identity or history; what kinds of things weaken the bonds within a relationship; and strategies for maintaining loving and long-lasting relationships.
Location: Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, 252 E. Highland Ave, Milwaukee, WI

Pridefest is just around the corner - June 10 - 12, 2011. (Visit PrideFest's website for more general details- www.pridefest.com)
Have you enjoyed coming to PrideFest in previous years? Are you looking for a way to cut costs and still be able to attend, connect with your friends, and contribute to a thriving Trans/LGBQ community? Once again, FORGE is a co-sponsor of PrideFest's Health and Wellness area. We are looking for volunteers to help onsite, as well as to do some "behind the scenes" (pre-PrideFest) work.
Volunteering = free admission.

| Jobs program | |
The first round of job-seekers have attended workshops and are moving on to job placement. Would you like to be in the second group of people to have tailored support in finding a new job?
Many of us in today's economy are looking for work. Trans people may experience additional barriers, making it even more difficult to secure steady, meaningful employment. FORGE's jobs project (http://forge-forward.org/in-wisconsin/jobs-program/) is helping transgender and gender non-conforming individuals move from a place of unemployment/underemployment to a working status. Signing up for the program is easy - just take the quick pre-enrollment survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/manpower_enrollment) and we'll get back to you soon about the tailored services this program can offer you (3 skills-building workshops, a jobs coach, connection to a staffing specialist, and more). You can also check out some 2008 documents FORGE created to help people in their job search/efforts: |
