October 4, 2008
Join us at the next FORGE monthly trans-masculine and SOFFA social support group to learn more about Dis/Abilities!!
Date: October 4, 2008
Time: 7:00 - 9:30pm
Place: Milwaukee's LGBT Community Center 315 West Court Street Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Topic: Dis/Abilities
Topic Description: A large number of people in our community live with both acute and chronic medical or mental health conditions. Come share your experiences about your physical, cognitive, emotional, psychiatric, and/or mobility ABILITIES and DISabilities. We'll look at the intersection of how living with disabilities can influence being trans (or receiving appropriate trans-related medical or mental health services), and how being trans may play a role in accessing respectful medical or mental health services. We will examine how one person's level of ability/disability impacts their partnership(s), friendships, professional relationships, and family dynamics. Conversation may also cover coping strategies, stigma, social isolation and inclusion, community response to chronic medical conditions impacting our community, alternative options to wellness, and theoretical concepts about how we view bodies, ability, and self-worth as able-bodied or disabled individuals.
Future FORGE Social Support Meetings:November 1, 2008 - Finding and Sustaining Intimate Relationships December 6, 2008 - Wellness: It does a body good |

The Tool Shed
The Tool Shed offers people in Milwaukee an excellent opportunity for buying erotic tools and learning about sexuality in an empowered way. Check out these two Tool Shed workshops, very explicitly welcoming of trans-masculine folks.
Tuesday, October 14: Theater Skills for Better Sex, 7 - 8:30 pm Genderqueer activist S. Bear Bergman (www.sbearbergman.com) returns to Milwaukee to lead this workshop! People with improvisational theater training know three things you don't about how to make a scene out of nothing, and/or keep one going if it gets away from you. Excellent for eager newbies and jaded ancients, the straightest of couples and the queerest alike will learn how to seamlessly become new characters, take old standbys in new directions, and incorporate new ideas on the fly without missing a beat. Participation required. $20/$10 students or low-income.
Friday, October 17: Boys' Night at the Shed, 7 - 8 pm The Tool Shed is woman-owned, but not woman-only! We have lots of toys for men of all genders and sexual orientations - masturbation sleeves, c-rings, prostate stimulators, anal toys, packers, realistic dildos and harnesses, and much more. This workshop, led by our male-identified staff, will give an overview of these tools. FREE, plus 10% off all purchases following the class.
