Greetings!

This may be the first time ever that you've heard from me when I was actually on location, but today I have much to share, a cloudy day on the lake and a stable wi-fi connection. Read on, and let me know your thoughts on these items.

Seeing you centered and connected on a 2.Reed day,

Yoga es Para Todos!

This trip to Guatemala is different than the others. This time I am teaching yoga to impoverished women and children who live in the jungles of northern Guatemala, near Tikal. You can see some great photos of them in the album on my  FB page

The idea crystalized last October, though I think it's origin stemmed from an intention
(sankalpa) set during  a Para Yoga (Rod Stryker) Yoga Fulfillment class two years ago. In order to make this happen, I needed to work on my meager Spanish:  vocabulary of the body parts, verbs, adjectives, expressions. I did that in a couple of months, practicing en espanol while creating and compiling what I would need to pull this off.

Before I left, some of my friends in the states gave me a reality check by asking me exactly what in the world I hoped to teach. I had to be quite clear about this, for my own good and that of the students. My intention is simple: teach how to connect the breath in the body, and trust that this  will bring some peace.

After one week of teaching these principientes (beginners) we all agree that it's working. So well, in fact, that we wish to extend an invitation to other teachers to participate. The students love it.
You can see their tension melting, and receiving their joy is indescribable.

My trip expenses, including an advance purchased air fare, will be about $1000US. My payback comes from the rich, non-negotiable currency known as seva.

When I leave here, another yoga teacher from Spain, Eva, will be picking up the classes that have formed (8:00-9:00am and 11:00-noon M-F). When she leaves, another yogi from Calgary will be coming in to pick up the classes, and I will be back as the schedule allows.

Would You Be Willing?

... to carry this torch? All that's needed is:
  • to be a certified yoga teacher of any tradition
  • remedial Spanish (like me)
  • a desire to work with loving, willing and able students in a truly special place in the world
  • willingness to cover your expenses and work without pay
If this resonates with you, I can help you make this happen. Though it may sound wild or crazy, it is not that much of a stretch! Feel free to email me bjsadtler@gmail.com

Historic Decisions for Maya Elders in 2012

The drums are beating loudly throughout the Maya-lands. The Elders have become more clear about the meaning of the year 2012. Soon, they may be in council to decide whether or when to shift to a new cycle of Year Bearers, Day Lords which influence their solar-year Haab calendar.

The implications of this are huge. First, a decision like this has not been made probably since the Spanish conquest. Secondly, this next set of Year Bearers carries a different set of energies. No longer will we be "under the influence" of what has ruled for about five centuries! Thirdly,
the idea that the "shift of the ages" is actually a decision, rather than a mystical event,  is interesting.

It appears to be a "chicken and the egg" sort of scenario, where the universe unravels the karma, the calendars provide the structure,  the ceremonial fire provides the guidance and the humans make the choice. This collaboration makes much sense and feels more grounded than perhaps other theories about the 2012 phenomena.

As events unfold and history is made I can provide more about the next cycle of Year Bearers. I will be obtaining updates from Carlos Barrios, Adriana Rojas and Shuni and pass them on to you, as well.

For now, be aware that some of the elements of the Maya's 20 different, inter-related calendars may be changing, which could be a very good thing, indeed.
