WEIGHT LOSS AND THE MIND
Jon Burras
Are you one of the many people who has struggled with your weight? Are you feeling frustrated even though you have followed the scientific formula of "calories consumed equals calories burned" and still have not lost any weight?
There might be a simple answer for you. You may not actually want to lose weight. The mind will control every aspect of the body, including your weight. Many people have created a belief that somehow weight gain is a benefit to them. Despite dieting and exercising regimens, they are still locked into a belief that extra weight serves them for the best.
Some people gain weight as a protection from experiencing their feelings. Others gain weight as a way to demonstrate that no one is going to tell them what to do. The mind is very powerful in how your body holds onto weight. Losing weight might be as simple as learning how to change your mind.

The Power of Ten a book by Adam Zickerman and Bill Schlev
You might be one of those people who strains and pushes yourself to achieve cardiovascular fitness, only to see your weight barely change and those unwanted pounds never seem to go away. Despite daily workouts of sweating while huffing and puffing, you have yet to see any desired changes. Aren't you ready to begin working out smarter and not harder. Aerobic conditioning is one of the least efficient ways to lose weight. Essentially, you are only losing weight while you are engaged in that particular aerobic
activity. That could be 20-minutes or an hour. A far more beneficial and effective way to lose weight is to build more muscle. We are not talking about body-building to the excess, just more toned muscle fibers. When you build more muscle you are creating a fat
burning machine 24-hours a day. Muscle requires a constant supply of fuel, including when you are sleeping. One way to work out smarter and gain more muscle is called The Power of Ten. This focused approach to putting on muscle requires just twenty-minutes of your time, once a week. This is a simple method that does not require long hours in the gym. Are you still committed to working out harder, or are you willing to begin to work out smarter?

Emotional Weight
a book by Colleen A. Sundermeyer, Ph.D.
We often think about weight in just scientific terms. The amount of calories consumed needs to be less than the amount of calories burned. This rather analytical way of viewing body-weight might work for some, but for others there is no correlation. What most scientists, medical doctors, personal
trainers and others involved in weight management
do not realize, is the fact that your emotional state
will greatly affect how much weight you lose. Two people could eat the same amount of calories and work out just as much and one might lose a substantial
amount of weight while another might hardly lose any weight at all.
Medical doctors might blame this on two different
metabolisms but a very real reason someone does not lose weight is because of their emotions. A person who remains frozen in a stress response is much less likely to lose any weight. The mind is perceiving a danger, whether real or imagined, and the body subsequently holds onto weight as a protection. Emotions are a key element to weight loss. Working out and burning calories might not be enough.

EFT for Weight Loss
a book by
Gary Craig
The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a relatively new concept in health and healing. Another name for EFT is "the tapping technique." This very simple method is a way to change one's thoughts by tapping on specific meridian points in the body while reciting an affirming thought.
Many people have found success using this technique. EFT For Weight Loss uses the specifics of the tapping technique and applies it to focus on the self-limiting beliefs around weight. If you are seeking a simple solution to weight loss, this book might be the perfect choice for you.
