THOUGHTS TO PONDER
The only guarantee in life is that you will continue to change. You may change for the better or for the worse. You may get stiffer, grumpier and more pain-ridden every day, or more flexible, more joyful and more positive each day. The choice is yours in which direction you will change.

The Mind and Healing

We have often been told by the scientific community that the mind is a function of the brain. This however, is completely backwards thinking. The truth of the matter is that the mind is much larger than the brain and passes through the brain like a "switching station." The mind is a vast network of energy webs that transverse afar and within the brain and body. This concept can be demonstrated when you have a strong thought about someone and shortly thereafter you receive a telephone call or letter from them. Your brain did not call them forth; your mind did. As strange as it may sound, your mind travels far outside your body to make contact. When we begin to access the tremendous healing potential of the mind we become conscious creators of our own destiny. Most people are taught to be victims of their body and their biology. They remain handicapped by odds and statistics. They become subjected to an authority figure's diagnosis of their situation, (usually a medical doctor's opinion). As we learn to develop our recognition of the power of the mind, worlds are at our fingertips. There are no odds and there is nothing that you cannot change. From dynamic health to abundant wealth, the mind is capable of creating any reality for you that you desire. This newsletter is dedicated to matters of the mind. As your mind expands, so do many other areas of your life.

The Worry-Free Diet
Worry can be such a debilitating emotion and has the power to wear us down. We often feel trapped and burdened. Life feels hopeless and it is often difficult to believe that things will ever change. Most people do not realize that most of their worries never actually happen. Begin this new year of 2010 on the "worry-free diet." Start to shed those old ways by trying something new. Here is how it works. Find a small glass and place it on your window sill. Imagine taking all your worries and shrinking them down so they will fit into this one tiny glass. This is like dehydrating a fruit so you just have a remnant of the original. Once you place all your worries in that glass, allow your body to exhale as you feel free from the burden. The opposite of worry is trust. Once you unload your worries from your body, begin to allow yourself to trust that everything is working out and worry will not solve anything.

Relaxation
The Greatest Gift You Can Give Yourself
This time of year we spend an inordinate amount of time and money shopping and buying gifts for everyone else. After a week or so, do these gifts still make you happy? The greatest gift you can give yourself (and others), is the gift of relaxation. While stress is the leading cause of all illness and disease, relaxation is the polar opposite. Relaxation occurs when your nervous system does not feel any threat, either real or imagined, and you are at peace. Most of us have lost this feeling of relaxation and would not even know where to look in order to find it. We have lost our way "home" and feel lost. There are many ways to find that deep sense of relaxation. First, you must make it important to feel good. Here are some suggestions.
-Turn off all technology for segments of the day and evening, (home phones, cell phones, pagers, answering machines, computers etc.), and learn to be out of touch with others. -Take a personal retreat. You may wish to go away for a few days to a hotel, retreat or spa, or just stay home and disconnect from others. Rent movies that you enjoy. Find a yoga class that invigorates you. Take this time to not do any work or to respond to any phone calls. You are altogether "unavailable" for the duration. Just like in the "good old days," place a "Gone Fishing" or "Out to Lunch" sign on your door or computer and honor that message. -If you are at work, go for a walk outdoors at lunch time or if you have an office, lock the door, turn off the telephone, place a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and practice some restorative yoga poses. -Get outdoors. Walk on the beach or in a park. Natural settings are a wonderful way to refresh and renew. -Spend the afternoon at a spa. - If you are serious about learning to relax you may wish to try "A Radical Attempt at Relaxation." Receive three massages in a single day or ten massages in a one month period. For most people, one massage just takes the surface tension off. When you receive a series of work in a short period of time you are better able to discover deeper and more lasting periods of relaxation. Learn more about a radical approach to healing

The Law of Attraction

You become what you think about, for the better or the worse. Every thought you think has power. You are setting sail each day in the direction your life is heading by the thoughts that you are choosing. Made famous by the recent movie The Secret, the Law of Attraction is based on the work of Esther and Jerry Hicks. The Law of Attraction teaches that metaphysical law is no different than physical laws (like gravity). When you think about something, you draw it towards you, (as long as there is no resistance to it). When you are worried or afraid of something you also draw it to you. Fear of scarcity brings on more scarcity. Fear of a certain disease will attract that disease. Fear of being of victim of a crime attracts someone who is willing to be a co-conspirator in your thoughts-an attacker. Most people focus on what they observe happening around them; thus, the more of it they get. There are no exceptions. Spend some quiet time each day learning to focus your thoughts. Don't be a victim of circumstances. Take charge of your life by cleaning up how you think. Click here to learn more...

Excuses Begone

a book by Wayne Dyer
What are your excuses for not getting what you want in life? Are you always short on money? Do you feel frustrated by the lack of time or your incessant busyness? Do you feel like you will never meet the right person for you? Is the weather always preventing you from doing what you truly wish to be doing? Dr. Dyer has written another brilliant book outlining how most of us sabotage our lives by blame. We use blame as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for what we have ultimately created ourselves. How many excuses do you use in order to limit your own life? Click here to learn more...

The Say "Yes" Campaign
Some of you may remember the movie from Jim Carey called "Yes Man." After a wild seminar and a confrontation with the presenter, Jim Carey's character had to say "yes" to everything. This shift dramatically changed his life. What is it that you have been resisting saying "yes" to? A lifestyle makeover? A new diet? A change in career? A new living situation? Or perhaps, something simpler like a month absence from television watching or a week without the morning newspaper? Choose ten new things that you wish to say "yes" to. Feel your way to making new choices and watch how things begin to unfold for you. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. The rest of your life begins with the new choices you are making today.

Random Acts of Kindness
Imagine doing kind things just off the top of your head without any payback. A random act of kindness is an attempt to step out of your comfort zone and show appreciation for someone or to connect with someone from the past. Imagine the kid next door feeling forlorn because his bicycle tire is flat and his single-parenting mother neither has the time nor the "know-how" to fix it for him. He usually parks his bike just outside your window in your condominium complex. You sneak out at night and fix his flat tire without ever mentioning that you had a hand in it. Watch his surprise and amazement when he discovers that his tire is remarkably fixed. What if you sent a "thank you" note to an old teacher of yours who impacted you in your life? What if you placed a small amount of money or a gift card in the mail for someone who is least likely to expect it? There are a myriad of possibilities. If you would like more helpful hints then check out Danny Wallace's book called Random Acts of Kindness: 365 Ways to Make the World a Nicer Place. Click here to learn more...
