SCIENCE Could Science be doing you more harm than good?
For the last fifty years or so the United States' scientifically-based government has declared War on Cancer. Yet despite billions of dollars in scientific research cancer rates remain about the same as they were fifty years ago. In addition, the scientific war campaign has also declared war on heart disease, war on obesity, war on drugs, war on diabetes and many more terror campaigns. These diseases or conditions continue to be out of control no matter how much money we continue to pour into more scientific research. The approach that science can cure all of our ills is not working. Science has become God and has infiltrated into nearly every aspect of our lives from giving birth to raising food. A farmer can no longer be considered a "farmer" but is more likely to be called a "crop engineer." Science and patriarchy have merged together only to steal a woman's power away from her and has turned birth into a major medical emergency. Scientificated Western medicine has turned medical doctors from "artists" into "technicians." Could it be possible that it is really science itself that is killing us? ********************************************************
This newsletter explores in depth some new and thought-provoking ideas about how we might wish to rethink the scientific paradigm.

The Myth of Science
The scientific way of thinking has come to dominate our lives, but at what price? Hundreds of years ago in the Western world rulers of the Catholic Church held the position of "gatekeepers of all knowledge." Science has now taken on that role. We cannot have any truth anymore unless a scientist first conducts a "study" to verify something's authenticity. Most people believe that science is an "exact science." The reality is that it is not. Science is a collection of hunches, stories, hypotheses and opinions that come together to be called the "scientific model." Science is only as accurate as the people conducting the studies and the perception of its outcome. Science tends to view our world through a very narrow viewfinder. Those who dissent are often ridiculed, punished or over-powered. (Interestingly, this is the same method the Catholic Church used centuries ago to reign in dissenters. Then dissenters were called "heretics" and usually burned at the stake. Today science labels dissenters of scientific opinion as "charlatans," "frauds," "quacks" and "crazies." Science punishes dissenters by using its merging with the government to unleash the FDA, FTC and IRS on the doorsteps of those who have confronted the scientific model. Not much has changed). The Conspiracy of "Scientification"
"Scientification" is a term that I like to use to describe the merging of science with many other aspects of life. This merging has completely reshaped our lives into something that might be hardly recognizable anymore. Some of these areas of merging are as follows; Exercise Food production Birthing and raising children Politics and government Media Mental health Physical health Aging Education Banking ...and many more venues. While science has grown in its dominance of public opinion in the United States and elsewhere what is most alarming is the conspiracy to hold it all together. The language that is used and the tactics employed demonstrate a thorough brain-washing of the public. Most people do not realize anymore that there is a reality outside of science. The sad irony is that nearly every social and health issue in our culture can trace its origins back to science. Science is the "cause" of most of our problems yet we are still looking to science to fix them.

Rethinking Pasteur's Germ Theory

A book by Nancy Appleton
What if Louis Pasteur was wrong in the late nineteenth century when he strongly lobbied for his idea that "germs were the cause of disease"? We have followed this model through Western medicine for nearly 150 years and have gotten almost nowhere. While the germ theory might have been instrumental in containing infectious diseases, (malaria, smallpox, diphtheria etc.), the germ theory has not begun to cure any autoimmune disease, (cancer, heart disease, Parkinson's disease etc.). Is it not time to rethink this process and stop wasting billions of dollars on germ research. Pasteur was very vocal in his enthusiasm for his idea and managed to convince the scientific governing bodies at the time to follow his paradigm. In fact, for the last 150 years or so the scientific community has been rather blindly following his germ theory. The germ theory teaches that one is a victim of one's own biology and his body. People are said to "catch" diseases or just be "unfortunate." Being a victim means that you do not have to take any responsibility. The germ theory is directly opposite of the holistic model which states that your body is infinitely wise and creates diseases to reflect a deeper imbalance within the body/mind paradigm. Disease is a sign of inner conflict within the emotional/spiritual world. The body is more apt to heal when you come to terms with the inner conflict. Interestingly, on his deathbed Pasteur did admit that he was probably wrong for all of those years. Pasteur said, "The germ is nothing; the soil (environment) is everything."

Exploding the Gene Myth

A book by Ruth Hubbard and Elijah Wald
In the past few decades we have been bombarded with the scientificated story that our genes are responsible for all of our problems. Rarely do you leave a medical doctor or a scientist anymore without being told how your genes are responsible for whatever predicament you might be in. Also, you are reminded that there is nothing you can do about it. Your biology has cursed you. What if none of this story were true? This fabulous book, Exploding the Gene Myth, takes the reader deep inside the tactics and manipulation used to try to convince the public that our genes really matter. The interesting paradox is that even though we are reminded daily by medical doctors and scientists that such diseases as heart disease, cancer, alcoholism etc., are genetically induced, no gene has ever been discovered that has proven to be the case.

The Biology of Belief

A book by
Bruce H. Lipton Ph.D.
The common rationale among scientists is that if it cannot be measured then it does not exist. The problem with this way of thinking is that if your tools for measuring something are inadequate then very little will exist for you. Bruce Lipton has put together a fundamental paradigm shift sure to rock your world. Dr. Lipton challenges the traditional scientific reductionistic model and states that your genes have little to do with your reality. It is your thought pattens that are turning genes "on" or "off." In other words, what is happening outside the gene is dictating what is going on inside the gene. Your biology is really controlled by your beliefs and not by your DNA or heredity. This new approach teaches that one is responsible for one's health or illness. You are not the victim of your biology as Western medicine wishes to preach to you. What you think about determines your physical reality.

Diet, Exercise and Control Stress A Dangerous Prescription
The common prescription today is to change one's diet, get some exercise and control stress. While this plan might look good on paper it can be extremely detrimental to one's health. First off, what diet should one follow? There are hundreds of diet choices and how does one choose which diet to adhere to. The high carb diet, the low carb diet, the high protein diet, the vegan diet, the vegetarian diet, the South Beach diet, etc. While food might be important in our health it is not the most important and the people who eat the healthiest are not always the healthiest of people. How should one exercise? While it is important to move one's body the notion to harden the body and aerobicize the heart is not an indicator of health rather it is training for war. Most of our current way of thinking about exercise was created by scientists in laboratories and actually weakens the body. The majority of what we know about diet, exercise and stress comes to us from the scientific way of thinking. Perhaps it is time to rethink these models as well.
