It's a Grand Old Flag
A Salute to Freedom takes place at the Civil War Museum June 12th and 13th. This year's theme is "It's a Grand Old Flag", highlighting the latest exhibit in the John M. Antaramian gallery. Actors dressed in period costumes will portray President and Mrs. Lincoln and other key figures from the Civil War era. Enjoy patriotic and Civil War era music, including by the Kenosha Pops Band and the Regimental Volunteer Band of Wisconsin. There will be a cannon artillery display, free family activities, theater programs, and much more. An interactive live eagle and birds of prey program will take place at the Kenosha Public Museum next door. Click here for details (keyword: salute).

Spend Second Saturday Downtown
Just blocks from the Civil War Museum, Downtown Kenosha will be bustling with activity on June 12th. Arts on the Avenue takes over 7th Avenue, between 56th and 58th Streets, starting at noon. Here, you'll find dancers, drummers, jugglers, live music, street art, art bikes and more. Then at 3 p.m., bring your kids and their bikes to Library Park to participate in the Bloomin' Downtown Bike Parade. The first Twilight Market of the season - a fresh-air urban market - happens from 4 to 8 p.m. on the streets of Downtown Kenosha. All of this leads up to Second Saturday festivities from 6 to 9 p.m. Live music, art exhibitions, family entertainment and much more await you at participating Downtown, Harborside, and Union Park district businesses! Enjoy Breakfast on the Farm
Show your appreciation for those who put the food on your table: the hard-working men, women, and families in the agriculture industry. At the same time, introduce the kids to farm life. Crane Dairy is opening its barn doors and laying out the welcome mat on its farm fields for the annual Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast. It starts at 6:30 a.m. on June 19th. This event is fun for the whole family! Enjoy a big farm breakfast, milking demonstrations, a Wisconsin products tent, old-fashioned children's games and much more! Tour Historical Properties
The Southport Light Station Museum is now open on weekends! Climb to the top of the 1866 lighthouse. Tour the 1867 keeper's house: the first floor has been restored to a 1907-08 time period, complete with a period kitchen and exhibits about Kenosha's harbor history. Also on weekends, tour Kemper Center's Durkee Mansion. The Victorian mansion was built in the 1860s for Charles Durkee, Wisconsin's Civil War era Senator. Near Durkee is the Anderson Arts Center, a 9,000 square foot mansion that was completed in 1931. A juried pastel show is on display through June 6th. The center will re-open on June 27th with a juried photography show. Click here for more details on these historical properties. Also explore Kenosha's four National Register Historic Districts.
