Polar Plunge
Put on your swimsuit, grab your towel, and head to Lake Andrea this Saturday, February 27! It's the 2010 Special Olympics Wisconsin Polar Plunge with activities for everyone. See what chicken bowling is all about, stay warm in the heated tents, and be brave and take the plunge. You could win a contest, including for Best Costume and Best Entrance into Water! Winter Carnival
Hold onto your Olympic spirit and head to Wilmot Mountain Ski and Snowboard Area for its annual Winter Carnival, March 5-7. Events on Saturday and Sunday include Big Air, Rail Jam, Moguls, Slalom Races, the Cardboard Regatta, Kids Silly Slalom, Beer Run Races, and more. There will be Live Music starting on Friday night and Turtle Races (for adults only) on Saturday night. Opening of the Greens
Dust off your golf clubs and start practicing your swing in time for the Opening of the Greens on Saint Patrick's Day. On March 17, the Golf Shops at Brighton Dale Links and Petrifying Springs Golf Course are set to open. Stop by to stock up on much-needed merchandise, book a group outing, or purchase your 2010 Golf Pass. And weather permitting, the Golf Courses themselves will open as well. Reduced spring rates are offered through April 30. |
Grapes of Wrath Art Exhibit
Visit a special Lemon Street Art Exhibit through April at Harborside Common Grounds. This is a must-see display for fans of John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath! The art reflects the spirit of the book, the Great Depression, and related themes. This is part of The Big Read, an initiative led by the Kenosha Public Library and a grant to hold community programs based on Steinbeck's book throughout March. Colorful Quilt Exhibit
Quilters will especially enjoy the Southport Quilters Guild Exhibit: "Colors of the Rainbow" at the Kenosha Public Museum (March 6-28). Guild members have created a quilt based on one randomly selected crayon color. Visit March 20 for special programs celebrating National Quilt Day. The keynote speaker will be quilter Natalie Sewell.
