Greetings!

Did you know that when expressed appropriately anger is a healthy emotion?  Johnson (2004) asserts that expressing anger appropriately allows you to release stress and frustration. On the other hand, when anger is expressed inappropriately there is a tendency to hold something or someone else responsible.  Agressive behavior can be a destructive force - both to the person experiencing it and for those subjected to it.

8 Tips for Taking Responsibility for Your Anger

-Make a commitment to change your quality of life.
-Seek pleasurable activities.
-Practice self-care (nutrition, rest, excercise, things you look forward to, etc.)
-Create as many choices for yourself as possible.
-Don't do things just to please others.  Give yourself permission to say, "No".  Otherwise you are likely to feel used, abused, and resentful.
-Set life goals and create your own destiny.
-Let it go!  Resolve your issues and move on with your life.  If the issue is something that is not in your control make peace with it, accept it, and let go.  You only have control over yourself.  Remember, you are responsible for your own happiness.
*If you have a spiritual life, remember that Easter is the celebration of our Lord's death, burial, and resurrection, which also buried our inappropriate expressions of anger, resurrected our appropriate behaviors, and freed us to live victoriously.  If you choose to accept your victory in the Easter message, you can combine the other 7 tips with it and live "better".

Summer Internships
for High School Students

Detroit Summer Finance Institute

DSFI was founded to provide meaningful summer jobs for
Detroit high school students and introduce them to careers in the financial services industry.  The program provides paid internships for academically superior students at investment banking firms, law firms, and government finance departments.  The students benefit from real on-the-job experience and weekly seminars presented by professionals representing every aspect of the  financial services sector. This year students will work for a total of 7 weeks and earn approximately $2,500.  To be eligible a student must be a Detroit resident, have two letters of recommendations, a minimum 3.0 GPA, provide a 1,000 word essay explaining why they want to take part in the program and be involved in extracurricular activities.  This is a tremendous opportunity for our young people.  The work experience alone is priceless, but the networking opportunities are like no other offered to high school students.  A partial list of participating companies is below.  This program has a proven track record and many wonderful stories of success.  Please think about who you might know who would qualify for participation this summer and urge them to apply.  If you don't know of anyone, please share this information with someone you know who has contact with Detroit high school students.  Applications must be received no later than Friday, April 13, 2007.  For additional information contact Linda at 734-576-9547.
