today. Also, we will be closed this weekend from
Friday to Monday. Liam is continuing work on his
second degree black belt in San Francisco with his

This month I was compelled to express my opinion on
healthy eating practices. It is not my intention to cause
suffering with my words or opinions. Please, accept
my words as heartfelt expressions of my love for you.

MEATLESS MONDAYS
Not too difficult is it?
Do you have to be a vegetarian to be a yogi? Yes . . .
No . . . Maybe So . . .. A better question would be - Are
you ready to acknowledge your part in the destruction
or sustainment of our planet. The effect of Agriculture
on our environment is
overwhelming. For
example, 18 percent of
greenhouse gas emissions are caused by agriculture
(flatulent cows). This means that raising
animals for food generates more greenhouse gases
than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.
Presently, livestock production accounts for 70 percent
of all agricultural land and 30 percent of the land
surface of the planet.
In addition. more than half of all the water consumed
in the U.S. is used to raise animals for food. It
requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of
meat. UNESCO reported that each day about 40,000
children die because of hunger or lack of nutrition.
Meanwhile, corn and wheat are largely grown to feed
livestock (cows, pigs, chickens, etc.) or to produce
alcohol. Over 80 percent of corn and over 95 percent
of oats produced in the United States are for feeding
livestock. The world's cattle alone consume a quantity
of food equivalent to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion
people, more than the entire human population on
earth.
Check the link below to learn how going meatless for
just one day will save 17,800,000 gallons of water and
soften your carbon footprint.

We humans are made entirely of non-
human elements, such as plants, minerals, earth,
clouds, and sunshine. For our practice to be deep and
true, we must include the ecosystem. If the
environment is destroyed, humans will be destroyed,
too. Protecting human life is not possible without also
protecting the lives of animals, plants, and
minerals. When we appreciate and honor the beauty of
life, we
will do everything in our power to protect all life.
