SAMTOSA, being content with what we have, may be one of the best places to begin our yoga practice. Practicing yoga through the discipline of Samtosa means being grateful or content with what we have. Being grateful not only for the good that comes to us in life but the not so pleasant as well. As we apply Samtosa to our lives we can see the lesson in every aspect of our lives, neither judging or complaining about the situation but knowing with a quiet resolve that what happens in life is directly part of the life path we have chosen. For those of you who come to class for the physical aspect of yoga, practicing Samtosa may mean not judging how flexible or inflexible you may be but simply being content with the fact that you are present in class.

 SPECIALTY CLASSES

Workshops, partner yoga, karma yoga and intensives. What does it all mean? WORKSHOPS heighten your understanding of specific poses as we break down postures and introduce new poses that require detail in positioning. Workshops are crucial in refining your practice. Early sign up is required. Please, please, let me know 48 hours in advance if you are unable to attend after signing up, as I structure workshops and spend a great deal of time preparing, based on those who do sign up. PARTNER classes allow the participants to delve in to an area of trust and mutual communication through movement. Your partner for this class does not need to be opposite gender or even currently practicing yoga. It is very user friendly. INTENSIVE classes require teacher approval before attending as a strong emphasis is placed on mental focus. This class is more often than not for those who attend classes 4-6 times per week and regularly attend workshops, as I offer poses at intensives which are learned in workshops and not offered in regular classes.

 KARMA YOGA

Our fifth specialty class of the month is Karma Yoga, the yoga of action. Each month with a fifth Friday The haven community will practice karma yoga. Having read Bill Clinton's book, Giving, I believe as yogi's we owe it to our community and to ourselves to practice yoga in more ways than asanas. During the month of November please drop a children's book suitable for children k thru grade 5 to be donated to local elementary schools.
