SAMTOSA, being content with what we have, may be
one
of the best places to begin our yoga practice.
Practicing yoga through the discipline of Samtosa
means being grateful or content with what we have.
Being grateful not only for the good that comes to us
in life but the not so pleasant as well. As we apply
Samtosa to our lives we can see the lesson in every
aspect of our lives, neither judging or complaining
about the situation but knowing with a quiet resolve
that what happens in life is directly part of the life
path we have chosen.
For those of you who come to class for the physical
aspect of yoga, practicing Samtosa may mean
not
judging how flexible or inflexible you may be but
simply being content with the fact that you are present
in class.
TE HLADA PARITAPA PHALAH PUNYAPUNYA
HETUTVAT. The karmas bear fruits of pleasure and
pain caused by merit and demerit. (Yoga Sutra II-14)
