Trumpets, Tables, Tents:
These 3 items tell us much about YHWH and our faith
Yom Teruah / Feast of Trumpets
· Involves seeing and hearing
· Sound the alarm
· Calls us towards YHWH
· Teruah = "shrill shout"
· Rosh Hashanah?
· On a Rosh Chodesh
· Aleph B'tishrie
· On a Rosh Chodesh
· Kept for 2 days – 1 long day
We can learn a lot from a Trumpet!
"Blessed are those who know the sound"
Psalm 89:15
"With trumpets and the sound of the shofar, make a joyful noise"
Psalm 98:6
The Shofar in the Scriptures
· Torah given - Exodus 19:19
· Jericho crushed – Joshua 6:20
· Signal of war – Judges 3:27
· Start Jubilee year – Lev 25:9
· Begin the feast days – Num 10:10
· Call to repentance – Isaiah 58:1
· Ingathering of exiles – Isaiah 27:13
· Return of Y'shua – Zech 9:14 – 16
· Judgement of the earth – Revelation 8 - 9
The Trumpet and the Feast of Trumpets are tied to the return of Y'shua
· Daniel 12:1 - 2
· Matthew 24:31
· 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
· 1 Corinthians 15:51 – 54
We can learn a lot from a Table!
Yom Kippur / Day of Atonements
· Day of reflection and remembrance
· Most solemn day of the year
· Involves waiting and tasting
· Remembers the work of the High Priest in the Temple as seen in Leviticus 16
· Brings us closer to YHWH
· 24 hours to "afflict the soul" or in Hebrew "inul nefesh"
· The word "nefesh" is translated in several verses as "soul" and in several verses as "appetite."
· Time of judgement as seen in Leviticus 23:27 & Numbers 29:7
"This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or an alien living among you—because on this day, atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before Yahweh, you will be clean from all your sins."
Leviticus 16:29-30
"YHWH said to Moses, 'The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves'"
Leviticus 23:26
The Day of Atonements is reflective of the Bema seat judgement
· Revelation 20:11-15
· 2 Corinthians 5:10
· 1 Corinthians 3:12-1
· 1 Corinthians 9:4-27
· Ezekiel 34:19-31
We can learn a lot from a Tent!
Chag Sukkot / Festival of Booths
· Involves living and touching
· Sukkah is a temporary dwelling
· Tents, tabernacles, booths
· Remind us of the 40 year journey in the wilderness
· 8 day long celebration
· 8 is the number of new life
· Final harvest is taken
· 70 in the temple as seen in Numbers 29:12-35
· Joyous time
· Each called to dwell / live in Sukkot like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
· Symbolizes our need to trust YHWH for everything
· A lulav / 4 species is used to waive before YHWH
· Leviticus 23:40-43
· Deuteronomy 16:13-15
· We know that Y'shua was born during this time
· The Messiah tabernacled with us – John 1:14
· Y'shua went to Temple during sukkot in John 7:27-29
