As more colleges and universities adopt controversial programming for student s*x weeks, it's refreshing to see one student organization stand up and speak out to offer what's commonly viewed in today's culture as an alternative look at human s*xuality - one that includes respect and love.

Undergraduates for a Better Yale College "believes that Yale can do better" and they are appealing to the school administration and the student body to take a second look at Yale's s*x culture, which includes cries of "No means yes!" by pledges of a Yale fraternity and recent complaints of s*xual harassment and assault. "We stand for a Yale where s*xual objectification is unknown, where freshmen are not pressured to accept inebriated hook-ups as the default lifestyle . . ." states the www.betteryale.org website.

As pointed out by this student organization, Yale's S*x Week, like many others hosted around the country, is less about education and more about p*rnography and one night stands. Undergraduates for a Better Yale College challenge other students by asking "Are these really the messages we want to reinforce, and are these the 'experts' and role models we want to seek out for advice and instruction on the preciously important questions of love, intimacy, relationships, and our s*xual nature?"

Thanks to the work of this student organization, the Yale administration is taking another look at the content of 2012 S*x Week. We hope that the school leaders will be as wise and courageous as their students in pursuing a Better Yale, and that students around the country will see that positive change can happen when people stand for what is right.
