These are exciting times for ROCK as more people learn what has happened in our region and want that kind of success where they live. I am thrilled to see citizens taking a stand across the nation knowing our communities are growing stronger and safer every day for children, families and businesses.
The influence of ROCK's model to build stronger communities and families has struck a chord around the country. After being featured on Focus on the Family's daily broadcast in April [listen here], we have received contacts from citizens in 13 states requesting assistance to make a positive difference in their communities. This is in addition to communities across the nation we are already helping. We have been working hard to meet these new needs, as well as stay focused on the challenges we face locally.
These contacts demonstrate a renewed sense of hope and ROCK is proud to offer leadership nationwide by way of expertise, guidance and resources for citizens, local communities, states and beyond. However, no matter how hard ROCK works, we cannot take the place of the people within the community. Each and every community that has experienced positive change had to work for it. Sometimes that means standing side by side with proactive government officials who want the best for those they serve, or, as in the case of Clarksville, Indiana, the road may be long and difficult when those entrusted to serve cannot be counted on to honor that trust.
Last night at the Clarksville Town Council meeting, Police Chief Dwight Ingle announced that since "ROCK and other fanatics" have attended public meetings, he thought the council should permanently adopt heightened restrictions for anyone attending a public town council meeting. [Read ROCK's Press Release] These restrictions were first enacted last night and would require any attendee to give in writing their full name and residential address along with showing a photo ID and be searched via a police scanning wand. Anyone who refused would not be allowed into the public meeting.
ROCK and other concerned citizens have attended many town council meetings to share concerns with elected officials. This professional and peaceful approach has been welcomed by officials in every community we have worked in - except for Clarksville, Indiana. This group of officials is now ignoring constituent concerns, ensuring a thriving environment for the local s*x industry and adopting intimidation tactics consistent with a dictatorship.
You can tell the quality of your government by how much it treats its citizens as a nuisance. This non-responsive and combative approach isn't confined to Clarksville. We are finding the same intimidation and resistance at the nation's highest law enforcement agency, the U.S. Department of Justice. In the past few days, concerned citizens have been contacting the Justice Department to ask that federal laws regarding illegal p*rnography be enforced. However, the toll-free line transferring the calls was suddenly and mysteriously shut down. Thankfully, a new line was established and the calls are going through again.
This is America, still, but only if we keep it that way. Won't you join ROCK in supporting southern Indiana and the citizens of Clarksville in standing up to this outrage? Also, be sure to read more about the call-in effort to the DOJ and register your concerns there as well.
We thank you for your partnership in these efforts and invite you to consider supporting our expanding work as well as assisting the good folks in Clarksville, Indiana in fighting opposition to positive change at every turn. Please send in your best financial gift today knowing that you are making a difference by standing firm with ROCK and your fellow citizens.
