A Tornado at G.WIZ!
Come see a 6-foot tall tornado in our Atrium! Our tornado was produced by Ned Kahn from the Exploratorium, a MacArthur Foundation award-winning artist who seamlessly blends art and science just as he does water vapor and winds. This exhibit is part of the traveling group Wind, Weather, and Turbulence. Come try to break the tornado up with your hands! A tornado is one of many types of vortices that occur naturally in our atmosphere. Hurricanes, frontal rainstorms, waterspouts, and "dust devils" are other examples of this phenomenon. Air vortices occur around us all the time, revealing themselves only when they capture something we can see. For example, when we see leaves whirling around on a sidewalk, were seeing an air vortex.
Q: Did you know that tornadoes are nature's strongest storms?
Q: Did you know that there are more tornadoes in the United States than any other country? |

Greetings!
G.WIZ would like to take a moment to thank our wonderful patrons who have participated in the matching grant from Irv & Marilyn Naiditch. There is still time to help us meet our goal. Please click HERE to find out how you can make a diffrence.
November was an incredible month for the museum. G.WIZ hosted 35 field trips with approximately 1,850 students from our area public and private schools. The schools traveled to G.WIZ from various counties including: Lee, Manatee, Pinellas, Polk, and Sarasota.
The education staff brought the world of science and technology to Laurel Nokomis and Toledo Blade Schools through the G.WIZ Outreach Workshops also known as "G.WIZ on the go!"
Next on the horizon are the ever exciting and educational G.WIZ Winter camps!
We hope to see you soon, ~The G.WIZ Staff ~
