'RAISING CHILDREN' If I had my child to raise over again: I'd build self-esteem first and the house later I'd finger paint more and point the finger less I would do less correcting and more connecting I'd take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes I would care to know less and know to care more I'd take more hikes and fly more kites I'd stop playing serious and seriously play I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars I'd do more hugging and less tugging I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often I would be firm less often and affirm much more I'd model less about the love of power And more about the power of love. ~Diane Loomans A good friend of mine, Katie Kuener sent me this poem. I felt like it had a gentle way of reminding me of what's important. And I need reminders because its so easy to let it all slip away as I get caught up in the urgent. Anyway Katie is the director of Morningstar Child Care in Calera. Morningstar Child Care is a family owned business, and they own child development centers in Helena, Pelham and Alabaster (Weatherly) as well. When you meet her, don't let her youthful, fun upbeat nature fool you. When it comes to child development, she is all business. It is because of her hardworking nature that she has won the Merchant Circle: Circle of Excellence award. If you are in need a childcare I would really encourage you to give her a call and see if her place is right for you and your child.
