NPN240GE Intelligent Platforms has extended its family of rugged GPGPU (general purpose computing on a graphics processing unit) solutions with the announcement of the 6U OpenVPX NPN240 multi-processor. The NPN240 features two NVIDIA CUDA-capable GT240 96-core GPUs, enabling it to deliver up to 750 GFLOPS peak per card slot (depending on the application). Multiple NPN240s can be linked to single or multiple hosts to create multi-node CUDA GPU clusters capable of thousands of GFLOPS.

As developers move away from VME and begin to leverage the performance improvements of VPX, there is a growing demand for simple, robust VPX development systems. To address this need, SIE has released a range of 3U and 6U VPX development systems. Designed with the development engineer in mind, the 522 and 585 offer a compact and portable system for lab and desktop use - rugged enough to withstand transporting to and from the field.

GE Intelligent Platforms has announced the availability of an innovative software capability that addresses a problem faced by military and aerospace customers who want to implement PCI Express peer-to-peer connectivity using the VPX architecture. Previously, customers were required to"hand-craft" a solution, with consequent impact on program cost and time to market. This capability will accelerate the adoption of VPX and enable existing platforms to migrate to it with greater ease.
