    Community Council Meets Tomorrow!

    Everyone come on out to the September meeting of the Kennedy Heights Community Council Tuesday, September 18th 7:30 meeting at the Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church.

    It will be a special opportunity to welcome new neighbors to the community, as a new tradition is beginning that welcomes new homeowners with a Welcome Basket and inviting them to the Community Council meeting to receive it. We have an opportunity to meet and greet neighbors and encourage neighborhood involvement.

    Also Councilmember Laure Quinlivan will be on hand to speak about the City Council initiative to begin 6 year terms.

    All of that plus updates on other happenings around the neighborhood!

    Kennedy Heights 29th annual Progressive Dinner

    The 29th Annual Kennedy Heights Progressive Dinner will take place on Saturday September 29th.

    If you've never been to this one of a kind event you need to put it in your calendar. Food fun and great times with your neighbors are guaranteed!

    There is still time to volunteer, become a host or purchase tickets.

    Cincinnati Recreation Commission

    Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center is gearing up for Fall! Register now for the After School Day Camp Program. Registration fees are $200.00 + $10.00 for an All-CRC Recreation Center Youth Membership Card. Fees are paid monthly. We have Full and Part Time positions available for children ages 6 - 12.     We also have programs for ages 3 - 5, Adventures in Learning. The program is Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 12:30pm, $40.00/week charged monthly. Program includes imagination play, shapes, cooking, science, ABC's, fitness and fun! Please call Kim Lanser, 731-7894 to register for the program..

    The Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center has many other programs.

    • ZumbaŽ with Ebony-Thursday nights, 7:30pm - 8:30pm, $6.00/class.
    • Pottery class-Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30pm - 8:30pm, $151.00 for 12 weeks plus clay
    • Scrap booking Club - Mondays at 10:00am
    • Movies at Pleasant Ridge-Wednesdays at 10:30am
    • Exercise class for seniors -Thursdays 10:00am - 11:00am
    • Kennedy Heights Seniors-Thursdays 10:00am - 3:00pm.
    • Marriage Works! Ohio will offer classes for Singles, Dating or Engaged Couples October 1 - November 5, 6:30pm - 8:00pm on Monday nights for free
    • BANG Cincinnati - Ballet II & So You Wanna Dance - Wednesday nights
    • Ballet I Dance Toning -Tuesday nights.

    Register now for the 8-week Healthy Lifestyle Change course! The course runs September 11 - November 20, 6:15pm - 7:15pm. The 8-Week Healthy Lifestyle Change Course is a comprehensive program designed to empower individuals to take more responsibility through increased knowledge and choice. The program is designed to assist individuals with the change process and identify areas of personal change for implementation into their daily lifestyles. The class is $40.00.     The Cincinnati Recreation Commission "pulled the plug" on Pleasant Ridge Pool in August. This marked the beginning of a major $1.4 million renovation project that will replace the current pool with a new pool. The project also includes an additional sprayground. The architect is Brandstetter Carroll, Inc and the contractor is CBS Construction, LLC. The new pool and sprayground will be open in time for next year's summer season. The pool at the Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center is one of the most popular city pools. .

    Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center has some exciting special events coming up! Our annual fall family event, Ghoul Fest will be held on October 19th, 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

    Kennedy Heights Arts Center

    Kennedy Heights Arts Center offers a variety of affordable, high-quality art classes for people of all ages. Registration for Fall Classes is now open! Options for adults include: drawing, oil painting, digital photography, mixed-media exploration, world drumming, and open studio time. Youth classes include a variety of mixed-media 2D and 3D visual arts for grades Pre-K, K-3rd, 4th-6th, and Teen Art Studio. Each class is led by talented, experienced instructors.     Newsletter Update

    There were some technical difficulties with the paper version of the newsletter, and sadly it didn't reach all mailboxes in the neighborhood.

    We're working to correct the situation, and hope for better cooperation with our next newsletter which will be sent out end of October, beginning of November.

    KHCC Board Postitions Open

    Please consider nominating yourself or one of your friends or family to be elected to the KHCC Board. Nominations occur at the October Community Council meeting, followed by an election in November, with terms that begin in January.

    Our officer positions include President, Vice-President for Administration, Vice-President for Community Planning, Secretary, Treasurer, and Trustee-at-Large.

    As a Board member, meeting responsibilities are few with only one regularly scheduled Board meeting monthly, typically meeting prior to each Council meeting.

    Substantial support, written material, and established practices are available to assist any new Board member.

    Upcoming meetings

    The Kennedy Heights Community Council next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 18th at 7:30. The executive board meets beforehand at 6PM.
