  • Greetings!

Hello from the Kennedy Height Community Council! We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!

Hall of Fame Inductees for Landscape Awards!

When the Landscape Awards Committee celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008, the committee decided to do something unique to honor this milestone. The result was the establishment of the Landscape Hall of Fame. This award gives special tribute to Kennedy Heights residents who have consistently maintained beautiful landscapes in our neighborhood AND who have won a KHCC annual Landscape Award three or more times since the committee's inception.

This year the committee focused on our new Landscape Hall of Fame awards and inducted two additional residences. New inductees, Mike Maloney and Jeff Dey have been residents of Kennedy Heights since 1999. The Paterson Family, Lois, Dave, Martha and Sam have been residents since 1997. On Saturday August 25, the Committee and KHCC President Natalie Boyer presented engraved awards to the new inductees.

Dr. Suess' "The Lorax" Showing at Movie Night

Saturday, Sept. 8th, bring your blanket to Drake Park for the annual Kennedy Heights Movie Night! This year's feature is Dr. Seuss' The Lorax. Enjoy the movie in an outdoor setting which make for great fun for the whole family! Concessions will be sold.

    Progressive Dinner Around the Corner

The 29th Annual Kennedy Heights Progressive Dinner will take place on Saturday September 29th.

If you've never been to this one of a kind event you need to put it in your calendar. Food fun and great times with your neighbors are guaranteed!

There is still time to volunteer, become a host or purchase tickets.

    Kennedy Heights Metallic Club

The Metallic Club is an organization of retired men from all fields and professions who meet once a week, on Friday mornings, for social fellowship and to listen to presentations from guest speakers who have worked, traveled, or had interesting experiences locally or around the world.

We get our name from having "Silver in our hair, Gold in our teeth, Iron in our blood, Rust in our joints, and Lead in our feet." The Club is non-sectarian and non-political and welcomes all retired men. And, happily, women and non members are always invited as guests.

    Upcoming Presentations:

    Friday, Sep. 7
Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church, 6312 Kennedy Ave.
    Topic: "Historic Downtown Cincinnati"
    Speaker: Steve Rolfes, Author

    Friday, Sep. 14
Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church, 6312 Kennedy Ave.
    Topic: "Morgan's Raid into Ohio"
Speaker: Steve Kemme, Cincinnati Enquirer Reporter

Meetings occur from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays and take place at two locations, the Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church (1st & 3rd Fridays), and the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church (2nd & 4th Fridays). Average attendance is about 45.

    Meet our Newsletter Editor

My name is Kendra Brown and I am the new editor of the KHCC newsletter. I have been a Kennedy Heights resident for nearly three years and think it is one of the best places to live in the Cincinnati area.

I currently work full-time in higher education publishing but also have a background in graphic design/arts, production, and fine art. Born and raised in Toledo, I am a Xavier University alum (both undergraduate and graduate) and feel that Cincinnati has truly become my home.

I look forward to serving the Kennedy Heights community in this role and hope that you enjoy the look and feel of the "Neighbor to Neighbor" newsletter. Please do not hesitate to contact me at kendra@kennedyheights.org with your feedback or suggestions, topics, or questions.

Of course, you are now reading the Kennedy Heights eNews, but the Community Council also prints a paper newsletter which should be in everyone's mailbox over the next few days.

    KHCC Board Postitions Open

Please consider nominating yourself or one of your friends or family to be elected to the KHCC Board. Nominations occur at the October Community Council meeting, followed by an election in November, with terms that begin in January.

Our officer positions include President, Vice-President for Administration, Vice-President for Community Planning, Secretary, Treasurer, and Trustee-at-Large.

As a Board member, meeting responsibilities are few with only one regularly scheduled Board meeting monthly, typically meeting prior to each Council meeting.

Substantial support, written material, and established practices are available to assist any new Board member.
