  • Greetings!

Our community is one step closer to realizing a long time goal with the groundbreaking of the Kennedy Heights Cultural Center. Very exciting times for our neighborhood!

NEP Wrapup & Cultural Center Groundbreaking this Thursday!

This Thursday morning the City of Cincinnati is having a press conference at 6620 Montgomery Road, the site of the Kennedy Heights Cultural Center. The intent of the conference is two-fold: to announce results of the Neighborhood Enhancement Program's 90-days of concentrated attention in Kennedy Heights, and a groundbreaking event for our Cultural Center Project. The press conference begins at 10:00am and will end by 10:30am. (You can park at 6620.)

We hope you will be able to attend the press conference, especially the groundbreaking which will be the second part of the program. It is hard to underestimate the potential power of our Project to refocus our business district as a distinctive arts environment and to give our precious neighborhood an opportunity to be reenergized by defining and shaping its own future. (We expect the grand opening to occur early next year.)

For the press conference and groundbreaking event we will have live music provided by the Queen City Brass Ensemble who will play fifteen minutes before and after the event, and, if appropriate, during the event. The Ensemble' gig was arranged by Jim Zarnowiecki, of Rogers Park. Joining us will be 30 or more pre-school students from the Kennedy Heights Montessori Center, one of the Cultural Center's three partners. The groundbreaking will involve the unveiling of a 4x8 Coming Soon sign, that will later be installed at the corner of Kennedy and Montgomery. (The sign was designed by Erik Brown, who donated his talents to the KH Development Corporation, of which he is a member of the Board of Trustees.) At the event we will provide water bottles and soft drinks, and will distribute a program sheet about the unveiling.

    Community Council on Summer Break

The Kennedy Heights Community Council will be taking its annual summer break during the months of June and July.

The Board of Directors will continue to meet throughout the summer, so if there is any pressing business you may contact any board member or [email protected].

The board will be meeting at the regurlary scheduled time and location, 6:30 on June 19 at KH Presbyterian Church.

    Spring 2012 Newsletter

In case you missed it, a paper newsletter was published earlier this spring and delivered to most homes in Kennedy Heights.

While much of the content is now past tense, there is still much good information about the NEP and Kennedy Heights in general. Enjoy!

Update on Pleasant Ridge Walgreens Issue

Our neighbors to the west, Pleasant Ridge are confronting an issue that will affect neighbors in both communities.

Included is a recent newsletter from the Pleasant Ridge Community Council discussing their stance on Walgreens' expansion plans into the business district on Montgomery Rd.

If you don't already subscribe to the Pleasant Ridge newsletter, it is highly recommended as there is much good information about both of our neighborhoods to be found within its pages on a regular basis.
