    Community Council News

    The Kennedy Heights Community Council meets tomorrow, November 15th. As always there will be lots of good information including some exciting news about the Kennedy Heights Cultural Center.

    The meeting is from 7:30-9:00 in the auditorium of Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church.

    Winterfest Returns

    When - Friday December 2nd - 6 to 8pm
    Where - Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center & Kennedy Heights Arts Center

    Each year on the first Friday in December, the communities of Pleasant Ridge and Kennedy Heights come together for a traditional holiday celebration. Winterfest is a fun, festive and free event for all ages.

    Winterfest 2010 was packed with fun and exciting activities for the entire family at several locations. The event started at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center with games, crafts, entertainment and visits with Santa. The celebration continued up the street at aim: cincinnati with a family dance along and Kennedy Heights Arts Center with art, live music, a magician and refreshments. 2011 is sure to be even more fun!

    Kennedy Heights Metallic Club

    The Metallic Club is an organization of retrired men from all fields and professions who meet once a week, on Fridays, for social fellowship and to listen to presentations from guest speakers who have worked and traveled locally and around the world.

    The Club is non-sectarian and non-political and welcomes all retired men. And, happily, women are invited as guests.

    Meetings occur from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30:00 a.m. on Fridays and take place at two locations, the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church and the Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church. Average attendance is about 45.

    Kennedy Heights Arts Center

    Mark your calendars for the opening of the annual guild holiday show next Saturday, November 19 from 6 to 8pm.

    Entitled Light Source, the show features multi-media artwork inspired by light and more. You'll see new work by our talented guild artists and many new surprises too.

    Kennedy Heights Art Center will be offering special holiday camps Christmas break. They are single day camps with different themes each day for youth ages 5-14.

    Come spend a day at Kennedy Heights Arts Center during Winter Break to warm up your creativity! Each one-day camp is from 9:30AM - 2:30PM (bring a sack lunch). Morning drop-off begins at 9:00. Tuition per day is $25. After-care is available from 2:30 - 5:30PM for an additional $5. To register, visit our website at www.kennedyarts.org or call 513-631-4278.

    Neighborhood Notes

    Join Keep Cincinnati Beautiful Tuesday, November 15th for America Recycles Day and drop off a variety of hard-to-recycle household items, including old electronics, all at one convenient location! We've partnered with Whole Foods of Cincinnati to host this dynamic recycling event, and you won't want to miss it. We'll be collecting items from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Whole Foods Market in Rookwood Commons. Find out what you can recycle HERE.

    Winter in the Woodlands
    FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9th CALIFORNIA WOODS NATURE PRESERVE 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
    Families and adults can follow a beautiful, luminaria-lit trail on a leisurely self-guided walk through the forest. Decorate your own home-baked holiday cookies, make crafts and enjoy acoustic Celtic music provided by Coel Mhor (www.coelmhor.com). Even learn how to play a dulcimer yourself with the Strothers family!
    Paid reservations required by December 5. Fee: $5/person. Register online at www.cincinnatiparks.com. Parking is limited, please carpool as much as possible.
