Annual Kennedy Heights Movie Night This Weekend!

The Kennedy Heights Community Council is proud to once again bring the community a FREE outdoor movie night on Saturday August 20 at the entrance to Drake Park. The movie this year will be the DreamWorks Animation film "Megamind". The Movie will begin at dusk (around 8:30-8:45 pm) on a giant inflatable screen and there will be cartoons shown prior to the stare of the movie.

There will also be concessions for sale so you can enjoy popcorn with your movie! Last year we had around 75 people attend and it would be great if we could double that number this year. There's plenty of room on the lawn to bring your family, your neighbors and your friends! And did we mention it's FREE?

A big Thank You goes out to the Cincinnati Park Board for this event! Bring the family and a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the last days of summer in one of Kennedy Heights' beautiful parks.

    Progressive Dinner Around the Corner

It's time for the 28th Annual KHCC Progressive Dinner! If you have never been before, this is THE event not to miss in Kennedy Heights! There will be over 125 people spending a fun evening sharing great food and entertainment with wonderful neighbors.

We begin the evening together at 5:30 with appetizers & sips at the KH Arts Center. When you arrive you will be greeted with great food, music, and drinks and register for the next stop which will be dinner at a host family's home. Each host family will have between 6-12 people at their home for dinner. The small number allows for great conversation and a fantastic opportunity to get to know a few people/neighbors a little better. After dinner, everyone will get back together at The Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church for homemade desserts and a silent auction.

This is KHCC's biggest annual fundraiser . Tickets are $25 per person and includes appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The silent auction will include gift certificates, gift baskets, and much, much more!!!!

    • To learn about hosting a dinner at your home, contact Lydia Morgan 631-7289 or lydiajm@fuse.net.
    • To donate a dessert, make a donation for the silent auction, reserve tickets or for more information on the event, contact Natalie Boyer at 731-5477 or Natalie@kennedyheights.org.
    • Tickets can also be purchased through any Board Member.

This year Mayor Mallory is encouraging all fathers to drop their children off at school on the first day, which for Cincinnati Public Schools is August 16th.

This initiative is part of a nationwide movement known as the Million Father March. Studies show that students who attend school on the first day are more likely to succeed. Additionally, when fathers are involved in their children's education, students do better in school. That is why Mayor Mallory is encouraging all fathers and male figures to participate in this initiative by dropping their children off at school on the first day.

The FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for Cincinnati Public Schools is AUGUST 16, 2011 But, be sure to take your kid to the first day of school no matter what school they attend.
