District A unveils Mural in Pleasant Ridge |
 |
Mural Dedication on SAT, July 23, a Neighborhood Party for All Ages
On location, at Ridge & Montgomery, from 6:30 - 9:30 PM
Mural "Unveiling" at 7 PM + music + The Food House foods on site.
Party AFTER-the-PARTY at MOLLY'S and your $$ will support the Mural!
THE STORY: Six months ago, District A received its first $2500 grant from The Haile Foundation through ArtsWave (formerly Fine Arts Fund) to support new arts in our community. That made possible our first partnership with ArtWorks to create a new community mural on Ridge Road at Mullaney's Pharmacy.
Since March, District A board members have been working with ArtWorks, the PR Community Council and the PR Development Corp. Our job is to represent you well and to raise our 'community share' of the mural's cost. ArtWorks employs 15 artists to create this mural: Jarrett Jamison (our lead artist from Kennedy Heights), two teaching artists and 12 teen apprentice artists, 7 of whom are from our area!
THE PITCH: Total cost of the mural is approximately $41,000 and our 'community share' is about 15%. District A has contributed its $2500 grant and its ongoing volunteer service. Neighbors are making in-kind donations. Now we need to ask your help. We need "200 $20s" to fill-the-gap! Will you join the 200?
THE ACTION: Get involved now to make our community mural your mural.
- Contribute whatever you can online with PayPal at www.pleasantridge.org
- Mail your donation in cash or check payable to District A, PO Box 36639, Cinti OH, 45236
- Send us your ideas, questions and suggestions, too. www.district-a.org
- Phone us at 557-3850. We're your neighbors; let's talk so we can thank you in person!

--------------------------------------------------------------------- The 2011 Regional Neighborhood Network Conference (RNNC) will be held Thursday, September 22nd through Saturday, September 24th at the Hilton Netherland Plaza Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio. RNNC 2011, the conference's Silver Anniversary, will be co-hosted by the Cities of Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky, marking the first time either city has hosted the event. The 2011 theme is, "Building Bridges, Making Connections: 25 Years of Connecting Neighbors to Neighborhoods." Both cities are proud members of the Regional Neighborhood Network which is comprised of 22 cities in 5 states (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee) that convene annually for RNNC. We anticipate more than 500 participants representing grassroots community leaders, government, nonprofit organizations, corporations, and foundations.
Through the generosity of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF), RNNC is able to cover registration costs for a limited number of volunteers in both cities 9/22-9/24/2011. Therefore, the 2011 RNNC Program/Volunteer Committee has created a process to recruit volunteers for these opportunities that fill a variety of needs during the conference.
Cincinnati residents interested in volunteering should fax completed forms to Nyemah Stark at 513/352-6257 or postal mail her at the Department of Community Development, 805 Central Avenue, Suite 700, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Covington residents interested in volunteering should fax completed forms for consideration to Angela Cook at 859/292-2137 or postal mail her at City of Covington, 638 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kentucky 41011.
General inquiries should be sent to communitydevelopment@cincinnati-oh.gov.
