On September 12, art centers throughout Greater Cincinnati will be showcasing how the arts are bringing people together and creating vibrant neighborhoods with free activities for youth and adults from noon to 4pm.
Come check out what's happening at YOUR community arts center: Kennedy Heights Arts Center. People of all ages will enjoy hands-on art activities, music and refreshments. At 1 pm, Cincinnati Pops keyboardist Julie Spangler will be performing on our Play Me, I'm Yours piano. Experience Touch, our newest exhibit which encourages visitors to do something usually forbidden in galleries: touch the artwork! Add your personal touch to our community movable mural with Cedric Michael Cox, and participate in a workshop: clay play with Brenda Tarbell (2 pm) or recycled art with Robin Hartman (3 pm). Plus enter to win fabulous door prizes, including a month of free classes!

Ken-Sil Soccer |
 |
This fall, Ken-Sil Soccer (www.kensilsoccer.com) was able to fill all of our existing teams with a total of 120 players and unfortunately had to turn players away this season. However, parents are looking for something for their children to do in the winter to keep them active and out of trouble. With this in mind, we are happy to announce that we are bringing back the basketball program for grades 3 and up. However, we NEED YOUR HELP to make it work!
Coaches
We need coaches for both the boys and girls divisions. Practices will start mid November with games beginning early December through January. If you are interested, please send an email to kensilbasketball@gmail.com. Please include your name, phone number and the groups you are interested in coaching. No coaching experience necessary! Just a love of the game to teach it to others!
Practice Locations
We have identified one potential practice locations but would appreciate any assistance locating additional gyms so that all teams have a facility to use. So, if you have someone willing to donate the use of their facilities, please forward me the contact information (kensilbasketball@gmail.com) so I can reach out to them. (Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center is unable to help out this time because their weekday slots are filled by the adult leagues this winter.)
Sponsors
Like any organization, it takes money to run a league; and since we are starting this back up after so long, we need help purchasing equipment, uniforms and initial league fees. If you own your own business or know someone who does, please pass this information along. I will contact them with a sponsor brochure so they are aware of the benefits that come along with sponsorship such as logos on our new jerseys, link on our website and more!

Update on the Pleasant Ridge Library Accessibility Addition
We are in the homestretch, but at a critical crossroads with the Pleasant Ridge Library accessibility project. The project, so vital to our communities, has proceeded from concept to construction design stage that would make it shove-ready in late 2010.
However, the project cannot begin until all funding is available.
The proposed renovation project includes an addition with an accessible ground level entrance, an elevator and accessible rest rooms. The elevator will make it possible for all community members to enter and move between floors with ease, permitting access to programs in the lower level meeting room.
Donations are urgently needed to reach the finish line. The Library Committee of the Pleasant Ridge Community Council is seeking the support of our neighbors in Kennedy Heights and the other areas served by the Pleasant Ridge Library Branch
Visit our facebook site "Support the Pleasant Ridge Library" which is updated frequently. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today!
