ballet tech cincinnati announces New Season, New Name |
 |
ballet tech cincinnati will soon change its name to arts
innovation movement: aim cincinnati. In 2007, the
company moved from the far north suburbs where it
was collocated with a small ballet school, to its own
venue in Kennedy Heights and began to transform the
community. Soon, it became clear that "ballet tech"
does not nearly describe the breadth of what the
organization does, how it impacts the community, and
the future direction of the organization. Producing
Artistic Director and President, Board of Directors
Marvel Gentry Davis explains, "Clearly, we are a great
dance company and school. But we have never been
focused solely on ballet. Now that we are leading arts
innovators in dance, a part of the regional arts center
movement and District A revitalization of the
community, we really want our name to reflect who we
are as leaders in arts innovation, community impact,
and movement, encompassing all the genres of
dance that we teach and perform, and the fact that we
are leaders in the regional arts movement and
international dance with our Gala of International
Dance Stars.
ballet tech cincinnati is on an aggressive timeline to
make the name change and brand transformation in
time for its new fiscal year starting September 1, 2010
and to start its 10th Anniversary Season at the Aronoff
Center. The 2010-2011 Season Series premieres with
the World Premiere of TwiNight: from Dracula to
Edward on Friday and Saturday, October 15-16, 2010.
The season will continue with the premiere of the
Leaping for Literacy Production, Lord of the Jungle on
April 15-16, 2011, highlighting the Tarzan Stories from
Edgar Rice Burroughs and include a Cincinnati Arts
Association SchoolTime performance on Friday
morning, April 15, 2011. The highlight of the entire
regional dance season, the 10th Annual Gala of
International Dance Stars premieres on Saturday,
August 13, 2011 for one night only, featuring the best
dancers, best companies and best choreography in
the world.

Concert on the Lawn at the KH Arts Center |
 |
This is a reminder for your calendar, a request to
attend and a chance for your input or
suggestions.
Each year since the opening of the ARTS CENTER
and
the purchase of the Community Tent by the
Community
Council, you have co-sponsored and co-funded the
Concert on the lawn at the Arts Center during the week
before or after Memorial Day.
.
Past honorees have included the Tuskegee Airmen,
Veterans and Active Military Personnel, First
Responders in our Community, the 100th Anniversary
of the KH Presbyterian Congregation. There are
usually 200-300 people in attendance at the Concert
to
show-case the outstanding community assets in
Kennedy Heights..
This year we will give recognition to the SCHOOLS
AND EDUCATORS who serve children in our
community. This will include the closest schools, of
course, in Kennedy Heights, Silverton, Amberley
Village and Pleasant Ridge and the other choices for
high school, private school and home school for our
children..
I am aksing each school to submit a list of honorees (
students, teachers, parents, retired staff, -it's their
choice -) and a banner, shield or flag for display for
that
evening. Participating School Representatives are
invited to arrive a 6 pm for refreshments and greeting
in the ARTS CENTER with the Officers and Members
of
the KH COMMUNITY COUNCIL..
Please mark your calendar and the times of the
concert and honorable mentions at intermission
during the concert.
.
Agenda for
THURSDAY JUNE 3, 2010 KENNEDY HEIGHTS
ARTS CENTER 6546 MONTGOMERY RD
Please make plans to attend that evening and bring
friends, neighbors, educators, grandchildren, etc.
The KH Council co-funds this event each year by
funding the Concert Band, the tent license and
refreshments. Arts Center Personnel and Volunteers
help with the Tent, preparations for food and parking
and other logistics.
The participation of all has made this a signal
community event, a gathering on the lawn of Lewis
Kennedy's home and a place to recognize those who
make our community great. Any suggestion is
welcomed as we try to improve the concert each year.
In addition, this would not happen if it were not for the
financial and personal commitment of Council...

News from the Arts Center |
 |
Help provide an enriching experience for a kid this
summer!.
Kennedy Heights Arts Center is transforming the lives
of children through participation in the arts. Through a
wide range of innovative arts programs led by
experienced teaching artists, students of all ages are
expanding their creativity, gaining skills and
connecting with their community..
The community we serve is wonderfully diverse -
racially, culturally and economically - and KHAC strives
to include everyone.
The Lindner Scholarship Fund, named in honor of
benefactors Carl and Edyth Lindner and Robert and
Betty Lindner, provides scholarships for arts classes
and camps for students with financial need, as well as
supports free outreach programs that bring the arts to
underserved populations. Each spring, the community
is invited to contribute to this fund to ensure that ALL
students can experience the arts regardless of
economic circumstance.
This year's goal is to raise $5,000 by June 30, 2010.
Please help us meet this goal with your contribution to
the Lindner Scholarship Fund today..

----------------------------------- Also, KHAC's I See
Africa exhibit continues
through June 5, 2010. Gallery hours are Tuesday -
Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. For
