This is a reminder for your calendar, a request to
attend and a chance for your input or
suggestions.
Each year since the opening of the ARTS CENTER
and
the purchase of the Community Tent by the
Community
Council, you have co-sponsored and co-funded the
Concert on the lawn at the Arts Center during the week
before or after Memorial Day.
.
Past honorees have included the Tuskegee Airmen,
Veterans and Active Military Personnel, First
Responders in our Community, the 100th Anniversary
of the KH Presbyterian Congregation. There are
usually 200-300 people in attendance at the Concert
to
show-case the outstanding community assets in
Kennedy Heights..
This year we will give recognition to the SCHOOLS
AND EDUCATORS who serve children in our
community. This will include the closest schools, of
course, in Kennedy Heights, Silverton, Amberley
Village and Pleasant Ridge and the other choices for
high school, private school and home school for our
children..
I am aksing each school to submit a list of honorees (
students, teachers, parents, retired staff, -it's their
choice -) and a banner, shield or flag for display for
that
evening. Participating School Representatives are
invited to arrive a 6 pm for refreshments and greeting
in the ARTS CENTER with the Officers and Members
of
the KH COMMUNITY COUNCIL..
Please mark your calendar and the times of the
concert and honorable mentions at intermission
during the concert.
.
Agenda for
THURSDAY JUNE 3, 2010 KENNEDY HEIGHTS
ARTS CENTER 6546 MONTGOMERY RD
Please make plans to attend that evening and bring
friends, neighbors, educators, grandchildren, etc.
The KH Council co-funds this event each year by
funding the Concert Band, the tent license and
refreshments. Arts Center Personnel and Volunteers
help with the Tent, preparations for food and parking
and other logistics.
The participation of all has made this a signal
community event, a gathering on the lawn of Lewis
Kennedy's home and a place to recognize those who
make our community great. Any suggestion is
welcomed as we try to improve the concert each year.
In addition, this would not happen if it were not for the
financial and personal commitment of Council...
