Tonight's meeting will feature a speaker from
the Census Bureau who will be explaining the
upcoming 2010 Census and what changes to
expect this time.
We will also be welcoming Brandon
Parker, a
resident of Rodgers Park, who is the new
Community Networker just hired by the
Council! Brandon will be working on a
marketing and communications plan for the
community to be able to reach more residents.
We will have more information on Brandon and
our plans for his work in the next newsletter
and coming soon on the website.
Kennedy Heights also has a new summer
volunteer, Lisa Eagle, who will be
assisting
with several community projects to learn
about the different aspects of Kennedy
Heights Community Council. Lisa is also a
resident of Rodgers Park. We plan to welcome
her tonight at the Council meeting as well.

week by announcing the establishment of the
Carl and Edyth Lindner and Robert and Betty
Lindner Scholarship fund for arts
programming.

Over a six-year period, Carl Lindner
contributed $650,000 and Robert Lindner
contributed $180,000 to support the facility
renovations and arts programming for area
residents. The scholarship fund will provide
scholarships for arts education classes to
students with financial needs and support
free outreach programs that bring the arts to
underserved populations. The Arts Center will
continue to seek contributions to the fund to
ensure its programs remain affordable.
Carl Lindner and his siblings attended the
former Kennedy School, located near the
Kennedy Heights Arts Center building at 6546
Montgomery Road. In 2003, a group of citizens
organized to convert the 1875 Gothic-style
mansion built by Lewis Kennedy, the founder
and first mayor of Kennedy Heights, into the
Arts Center.
