  • Greetings!

The calendar says April, but the weather still feels like March! Things will get decidedly more sunny over the next couple of weeks with our big springtime events.

    Sap Brunch on April 18th

Join us this Saturday (April 18th) at 10:30 AM for the annual Kennedy Heights Sap Brunch. There is still time to get tickets from one of the Community Council Board members or you may buy tickets at the door.

The cost on the day of the event is $15 per person or $25 per couple.

Our favorite springtime event will feature a waffle breakfast with all of the trimmings and lots of good fellowship with your neighbors... and maybe even a few surprises.

Litter Magic & the Great American Clean Up

Kennedy Heights' other major spring event, Litter Magic takes place on the following Saturday (April 25th) which is by no coincidence the day of the Great American Clean up.

Volunteers will be meeting at 8:30 am at the Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church parking lot and fanning out through the community cleaning up various "hot spots" and generally beautifying our neighborhood.

    • Free T-shirts for new volunteers
    • A good way for students to get service hours
    • Pizza party following the clean-up back at the church

This event will mark the end of an era, as Joanie and Jeffry Weidner will be retireing their trash bags after more than ten years of supporting our community with their efforts. A big (Magician's) hat's off to these awesome neighbors!Questions, call 631-0051 evenings.

    Silverton Mural Project
    Saturday, April 25 9 am - Noon

In conjunction with the Great American Cleanup, KHAC is partnering with the City of Silverton and Silverton Paideia School to create a community mural. The windows of the old Lighthouse store at Plainfield and Montgomery Rd. will become our canvas! On Saturday, April 25, volunteers will be rejuvenating the street corner by painting the mural, as well as planting bushes and flowers in the corner lot.

The mural will be designed by students from Silverton Paideia and local artist Ted Hendricks. The students will be interviewing long-time residents of Silverton for inspiration for the mural which will be based on Silverton, it's residents and it's history. Residents ages 10 and up are invited to come on April 25th, pick up a paint brush and participate. Help us create a mural in one day!

Call or email Bruce at the Arts Center to sign-up at 631-4278 or bruce@kennedyarts.org.
