The final news item this month is about the newest Lamborghini. We know that 99% of us cannot afford cars like this. But we can still dream. And it's fun to see the photos and read about the very best of automotive engineering and styling.

Auto Service Tips from Consumer Reports

The April 2009 issue of Consumer Reports is mostly about the 2009 cars. But they actually say quite a bit about auto service. Like what to do if your dealer goes out of business. How many new car dealer's maintenance recommendations are unnecessary and in excess of the automaker's recommendations. And your rights to use an independent service shop for anything but warranty repairs. Read the Consumer Reports service tips on our web site.

Used Car Buying Tips from Consumer Reports

The April issue points out that "buying a late-model used car instead of a new one can save you thousands of dollars over the first five years of ownership." They explain why and tell you how many miles you can expect from a well maintained vehicle. They also rank the auto companies by average test scores. America's Most- and Least-Stolen Cars

Forbes Magazine had an interesting article on auto theft. A full-size luxury SUV has the highest theft-claim frequency of any vehicle by a long shot. They explain why and list the top ten most stolen cars of 2008. They also give some examples of the least stolen cars, which happen to be cars we sell and service. See the article and list.

Hybrids: Pause Before You Purchase

High gas prices made hybrids a hot commodity. The supply is limited and you pay a high premium to get one. Edmunds.com has a good article on the pros and cons of hybrids in general and ranks several specific models. Don't jump in before you read this.

Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4

When money is no object, engineers find ways to make cars better, lighter, and faster. That's certainly the case with this new Lamborghini introduced at the Geneva Auto Show. How about a 670 hp V12 that goes from 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. Top speed: 212 mph. Only 350 will be built. Read the press release and see more photos.
