Greetings! Many people choose import vehicles for safety reasons. European companies like Volvo and Mercedes Benz have been major innovators in automotive safety. And most imports provide better emergency handling than domestic vehicles. This month's issue includes more than one article on auto safety. As usual, we also have some money- saving coupons for our newsletter readers. Thank you for trusting Prestige Imports to find and service your vehicles.

There's a lot of auto testing supported by your tax dollars. We've created a page with direct links to this information for any year, make, and model of vehicle. This includes Crash Test and Rollover Ratings, the Fuel Economy Guide, and the Green Vehicle Guide. Mileage estimates on older cars have been converted to the same system now used on new cars.
High gas prices are creating a huge demand for the Toyota Prius hybrid. But do the fuel cost savings justify the high initial costs? We used Edmunds True Cost of Ownership calculator to compare a 2008 Toyota Prius with a 2006 Toyota Camry. Over five years at 15,000 miles/year the projected cost of the Prius is $3,400 HIGHER. Furthermore, the Camry is a larger, more comfortable, more powerful car with 5-star crash test ratings for front seat occupants. The Prius only gets 4 stars.
Have you noticed more aggressive drivers on the road? Stories of aggressive drivers chasing, punching or shooting their victims are common, even in West Michigan. State Farm Insurance published a list of characteristics that define aggressive driving. Then they also provided a list of tips to help you avoid an encounter with an aggressive driver.
Mercedes Benz is preparing to launch its Attention Assist system in the spring of 2009. This is an amazing technology that almost immediately recognizes a driver's shift from alertness to drowsiness. The system tracks several different indicators and builds different profiles for individual drivers.
Not to be outdone in the area of safety, Volvo is engaged in an ambitious technology program. Their goal? No one killed or injured in a Volvo vehicle in the year 2020. Read "Volvo Aims for Zero Collision Future" on our web site.
We just compared the economics of a new Toyota Prius vs. a 2006 Toyota Camry. We keep our eyes out for Camry's in excellent condition. And we have one right now on our lot. This 2006 Toyota Camry LE is white with a tan interior. It's an automatic with the economical 4-cylinder engine. Options include power locks and windows, a CD player, and aluminum wheels. It's a one-owner car with 41,000 miles and is priced at $15,900. Call Joe or Phil Licari to arrange a test drive or just come in.
