On November 2008 I joined Razor Sharp Fitness and my life changed. I started working out because I wanted to lose weight after I had my son. The first class I went to was Cardio kick with Tenille and I loved it. I signed up right away. I was taking her class twice a week and decided that I needed to add some Zumba into my life. I started taking Zumba with Beatriz. So between Tenille's class and Zumba I lost 20 pounds in 6-8 months. I felt great, healthy and full of energy!

I've been a dancer since I was 5 years old, always enjoying dancing and wanting to learn more. My family and I moved from Bulgaria to the United States about 10 years ago. I am a professional Ballroom and Latin dancer, and a Belly Dancing Instructor. So since I have a background of dancing, I decided to get certified as a Zumba Fitness Instructor. I've taught Zumba at Razor Sharp for about year and a half now and I enjoy it so much. The best part is the members that keep coming to my classes and making it even more fun. I love them!!!

Everything was going great in my life except one thing. I've had some problems with my eye since I was little but for the last few years it has gotten worse. My eye developed very high pressure and became painful. I had very little vision in that eye but with the pressure being so high, I lost it all. It started to look bad cosmetically, and the color started to change. So the only choice I had, was to have the eye removed and have a prosthetic eye put in, which will look exactly the same as my other eye.

This was the hardest decision that I had to make so far in my life but I did it. I went ahead with the surgery at the end of November 2010. I just wanted the pain to go away and for my eye to look normal. I've been living with all of this for too long so finally something had to be done. Meanwhile I was still living my normal life, taking care of my son, working at Aurora as OB/GYN Medical Assistant and teaching my Zumba classes or belly dancing here at Razor Sharp. I just want to say how wonderful everyone around me was when I told them I was going ahead with the surgery, especially Razor Sharp members and employees. I couldn't do it without all of your support!

The surgery went great. I am so happy I did it because there is no pain and I feel just fine. I couldn't do Zumba for 6 weeks, but I went back to working at the hospital 2 weeks after the surgery. As most of you have seen, I'm now wearing an eye patch, which I have to do for 8 weeks post-surgery. Finally this week however, I am going to get my prosthetic eye. I am back teaching my Zumba classes and enjoying life. The hardest part was not going to the gym for 6 weeks, but I started going back slowly and I tried to work out when I could.

Again, I just want to say thank you to Razor Sharp Fitness and to the members for all of your support and I am happy to be a part of such a great place to work, to make people happy and help them reach their goal of a healthier life!
