May Member of the Month: Jeannine Pagano
My journey began three years ago after being
diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgeries,
chemotherapy, and radiation I was faced with fatigue,
muscle loss, and weight gain. I joined Razor Sharp
while I was still in radiation and walked every day on
the treadmill. I also did light resistance training on
the
machines.
As I saw improvement I took it to the next level and
hired Tenille as my personal trainer. By working with
her
twice a week, I got the results without injury. This was
a committment I needed make in order to improve my
health.
I began attending more classes as my endurance
increased, and then during the fitness challenge I
attended even more! Indoor cycling, Zumba, and
Yoga
are my favorites.
Over the past year I have lost 25 lbs., increased my
endurance, and toned my body from head to toe.
Greatest of all, I remain cancer-free!
I'd like to thank all of the instructors and staff at Razor
Sharp. If it wasn't for your encouragement, I wouldn't
enjoy coming everyday. As the sign on the building
says, "Invest in your health!"

those units were used. According the Blood Center,
this was a very successful drive.
Our goal for June is again, 35 donors so let's make it

2010 Ride of Silence to be Held on May 19th

On the third Wednesday of May, at 7 PM local time
around the world, cyclists will take to the roads in a
silent protest of the carnage taking place on the
streets. Chris Phelan organized the first Ride Of
Silence in Dallas in 2003 after endurance cyclist Larry
Schwartz was killed by a passing bus mirror on an
empty road.
The Ride Of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists
to ride no faster than 12 mph for no longer than an
hour, and to remain silent during the ride. The ride
hopes to raise cycling awareness during bike safety
month to motorists, police, traffic engineers, and city
officials and is also a chance to mourn, in funeral
procession style, those who have already been killed.
If you or someone you know may be interested in
participating in the "Ride of Silence," please visit
www.rideofsilence.org for more details.

Traveling? See Your Acupuncturist Before You Go!

Whether you are going camping up north or traveling
abroad, your acupuncturist can give you an essentials
kit that you can use to treat many common injuries or
ailments that might otherwise ruin your vacation. The
kits can be modified, depending on where you will be
traveling and what activities that you have planned.
The following are the four most commonly
recommended products, and some information about
their uses.
A bad sunburn can be painful and usually takes a few
days to a week to heal on its own. If you pack some
Chin hung wan burn cream you can be back in
the
sun much sooner. It can also be used on any type of
burn.
A scrape, cut or blister can interfere with your activities
and depending on the location can make movement
painful. It can also lead to infection or scarring if not
treated properly. If you have some Yunan bai yao
powder, you can stop the bleeding, and heal in a
fraction of the time which reduces the risk of scarring.
It also has strong natural antibiotic and analgesic
properties that will lessen the chance of infection and
numb the pain.
Another possible problem encountered when
traveling is with food and digestion. There are two
herbal formulas that you should never leave home
without. Early Comfort and Curing Formula
can stop the symptoms of food poisoning within
minutes and help the body to detoxify the food without
vomiting or diarrhea. They can also help with nausea,
vomiting, diarrhea, as well as abdominal cramping
and pain from other causes including stomach flu.
Before you leave for your next vacation, make an
herbal consultation appointment with Kelly or Juanita,
and get your own personalized essential travel kit.

Academia Calls Suzanne . . .

Wellness Consultant Suzanne Williamson's role here
at the club will change in June as she pursues a
teaching position with Gateway Technical College.
Suzanne's love of teaching (and a much shorter
commute) make this a good opportunity for her. She
will still continue to do cholesterol screenings,
nutrition consults and teach Transitions Weight Loss
Program but on a limited basis. We wish her well and
we are glad that she is still a part of the Razor family.
