In the last thirteen months, I've lost my job, had my left knee totally replaced, and was in line for another knee replacement. I was unable to bend over and tie my own shoes without losing my breath. I was in such bad shape that I would have my wife put my socks and shoes on for me. I love to play golf and for the last five years I could only manage to play about ten rounds per year. I always needed to ride, instead of walk the course. I was overweight and way out of shape. I needed to do something about my lifestyle.

When I saw the material on the 12-week Transition Lifestyle System program, I decided to check it out. I talked to Suzanne Williamson about the program and she was very convincing that it would be a step in the right direction for me to get my life back. It would teach me the right way to eat. I talked to another member who had lost forty-seven pounds on the program. That was enough for me, I knew I could accomplish the same weight loss or possibly even more if I dedicated myself to the program.

My wife helped me with my meals and gave me positive feedback. My initial blood pressure and lab work were abnormal even with medication and midway during the program they were back to normal. I've walked nine holes on the golf course twice now, and look forward to walking eighteen holes this year. I am now exercising six times per week instead of four and I've even added the treadmill as part of my routine. I'm still doing the weight machines as well as running in the therapy pool. As I write this, I have lost forty-five pounds to date with one week to go. My goal is to lose one hundred pounds this year, and I've got fifty-five pounds left!

  • Arthritis and Acupuncture
  • shoulder

Arthritis is one of the major reasons for limited mobility as we age. Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, affects more than 40 million Americans. When the expensive drugs being taken have no positive effects on the pain; it is then that people seek out alternative solutions. Acupuncture has been proven to have positive results.

In a study involving 570 patients all over 50 years of age, who had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee and who were in moderate pain, were divided into three groups. One had acupuncture, another had sham acupuncture (fake needles used, no needles inserted), and the other one-third had counseling to learn how to deal with their pain. Patients were allowed to continue using their previous remedies for relieve of pain.

After eight weeks the acupuncture group reported more mobility and a higher level of functionality, but with the same amount of pain. But, after the full 26 weeks, the acupuncture patients reported less pain (40% improvement), compared to the sham treatment patients (33%) improvement), or the educational counseling patients (19% improvement).

Acupuncture has no side effects, so why not give it a try? To set up an appointment contact the front desk. Both Juanita and Kelly will be happy to assist you on your way back to health with improved mobility and functionality.
